Stand Alone

The butterfly lost will to fly,
Falling into the cement,
The sun's reflection stolen by fading colors,
As the wind picked up dried leaves and scattered them in your memory.

Your cold face against my warm hand,
Tears that spilled today kept the truth trapped inside,
Pulse was rapid along side my own,
Breathing slowing to a silent sigh,
Limp form held close to my chest as the sirens came charging,
Whisper in your ear the words I never had the courage to say,
Right here you will always be kept safe and loved.

Carry on never with a raging fire,
Remember look to the small things to find true beauty,
Burn bright and burn strong always fight with honor and justice,
Fly high into the sky without limits or regret like the butterfly,
Fading from the crowd in fragments I stand alone closing my eyes,
Soon I will be with you.

The pictures painted are vivid, but the meaning is much deeper.

As with all of your work, I love it.

You pour your soul into it.

Never lose that talent.

many of these lines ring so true, and again you've done an excellent job of painting a story and a situation, you do this genre so well, and you always own it, you make it your own and lift it to a unique height. The title gives another possible angle I think, but ultimately there feels like there's hope in this, and I really like that. Your poetry doesn't always end that way, and yet here in a very sad situation you end with some hope, and it fits well also.

Thank you for sharing this :)

This is amazing you always know how to write things just right to where you can see everything and if feels like your actually there.
