Anime is only one conceptual canon, a form of style, that you can draw something in.
Personally, I don't like it. Animation derived from Japan is funny, but usually choppy and conists of nothing but stills and long winded animation. What Avatar did, take American standards and apply them to the simplicity derived from Japan's 'anime' canon style, which was created to simplify animation and nothing more, was a smart move, and ultimatly made it better than anything either could make.
Also I have no idea what people find so beautiful about drawing something with huge as eyes and deformed body figures, or the people who draw nothing BUT fanart and everyone oogles at it.
Well, it's just one concept, anyways.
