We have a habit of pairing up characters or making someone for the lonely characters. Just so we have another way to torment them--through their loved ones.
But Captain Delhamue expressed his view on our habit of allowing everyone but the Starstealth captains a significant other. If he ever DID mention it in the actual story, I believe it would be in passing to his newest companion, the Skull Captain Calder. P: I dunno how Egan would react to Monty's lamentation, but meh.
