Chapter 11: Escaping Reality

During the times of modern, there is one librarian that is not so librarian like and that librarian is LizzyC. Right now in Reality-B, Reality-B Lizzy is down in the dumps, she is in the corner of the children’s auditorium holding a piece of alchemy chalk in her hand. Reality-B Lizzy gets up and walks out of the auditorium and goes over to where Reality-B Denise is at and begins talking about going to another reality. Meanwhile in Reality-A, Lizzy is helping Ms. Liz open boxes.
“Wow, the manga sure came in fast this time,” Lizzy said.
“I know,” Ms. Liz said happily as she was putting stickers on each manga.
Back to Reality-B, Reality-B Lizzy is talking to Reality-B Denise about visiting another reality. Reality-B Denise was all for it, she wanted to go with Reality-B Lizzy but the only problem was, she had to work, and a family to take care of. That didn’t stop Reality-B Denise from deciding to go with Reality-B Lizzy to Reality-A. That’s when Reality-B Ms. Liz walked in and noticed the alchemy chalk in Reality-B Lizzy’s hand.
“You know if there is such a thing as an alternate reality,” Reality-B Ms. Liz said, “You shouldn’t go there to run away from your problems. You should just face them head on before they get worst.”
“So, do you want to go with me to the other reality?” Reality-B Lizzy asked Reality-B Ms. Liz.
“No, I can’t,” Reality-B Ms. Liz replied as she sighed, “I have a lot of work to do. Let me know if it’s real or not.”
“Ok, Ms. Liz,” Reality-B Lizzy said, “Well see you guys later!”
Reality-B Lizzy walked back into the children’s auditorium and that’s when Reality-B Fabian went over to Reality-B Lizzy.
“You’re going to that alternate reality again, aren’t you?” Reality-B Fabian asked.
“So what if I am?” Reality-B Lizzy replied.
That’s when Reality-B Michael stepped in and said, “Just let her go to the alternate reality.”
“No Michael!” Reality-B Fabian yelled, “We can’t lose her again!”
Reality-B Michael just sighed. He wanted Reality-B Lizzy to learn that running away to another reality doesn’t fix your problems but, she will have to learn it the hard way. Reality-B Lizzy walked out of the children’s auditorium.
“Lizzy,” Reality-B Denise said in a whisper, “Let’s go before anybody finds out we went to the alternate reality.”
“Ok, Denise,” Reality-B Lizzy said as they walked to the back of the library.
Back in Reality-A, Ms. Liz’s magic orb is glowing dark red. Lizzy looks at it and wondered what it meant.
“Hey, Ms. Liz,” Lizzy asked, “What does the glowing dark red means?”
“Oh no,” Ms. Liz replied, “This means someone from another reality is trying to get into our reality.”
“Where are they going to land?” Lizzy asked.
“That I am not sure of,” Ms. Liz replied, “But this isn’t good at all, the only way certain realities can travel from one reality to another if they have alchemy chalk.”
“Oh no,” Lizzy said, “That means it could had fell into the wrong hands.”
“Not only that, but it puts the reality lines out of balance,” Ms. Liz replied, “And that is never a good thing.”
Back to Reality-B, Reality-B Lizzy started drawing a reality symbol on the wall. Alchemy chalk does not leave permanent mark on walls so; it’s easy to travel from one reality to another without people knowing about it. Reality-B Denise was amazed on how Reality-B Lizzy opened the gate into another reality so easily.
“Let’s go Denise,” Reality-B Lizzy said happily as she took Reality-B Denise’s hand and jumped in.
As they were traveling through the reality vortex, Reality-B Denise was amazed that it was this easy to literally escape reality. When they arrived at Reality-A, they landed outside of the library. Reality-B Denise noticed that it looked the same but with a few minor differences.
“Are we really in an alternate reality?” Reality-B Denise asked Reality-B Lizzy.
“Yes we are,” Reality-B Lizzy replied, “Can’t you tell from the super natural beings walking around?”
Reality-B Denise looked around; she was surprised that there were such things as super natural beings in this reality. She always thought they were only in fiction. Reality-B Lizzy and Reality-B Denise walked into the library and it looked the same but, there were differences. They both walked into the children’s department. Carole looked at them and was surprised, she just saw Denise downstairs eating a sandwich and Lizzy helping Ms. Liz. Then Carole started thinking, how did they get here so fast? Didn’t I see them two minutes ago?
“Wait a minute,” Carole said to Reality-B Denise and Reality-B Lizzy, “Didn’t I just see you guys downstairs a few minutes ago?”
“Maybe you have,” Reality-B Lizzy replied, “Or maybe it’s…”
“I think we should head back,” Reality-B Denise said to Reality-B Lizzy.
Then all of a sudden, Robin walks into the room and is in shock to see Lizzy and Denise there. What Robin and Carole don’t know is the Denise and Lizzy they see now are from Reality-B. That’s when Robin even began to question the logic of all of this.
“Wasn’t Denise just downstairs eating a sandwich?” Robin asked Carole, “And wasn’t Lizzy helping Ms. Liz with some manga?”
“I really don’t know,” Carole replied, “All I know is that they couldn’t have gotten up here that fast.”
That’s when the phone rang and Carole picked it up.
“Dade Library System Children’s Room, this is Carole,” Carole said into the phone, “How may I help you?”
“Carole, this is Liz,” Ms. Liz replied, “If you see two people that look like Denise and Lizzy, that’s because they are Denise and Lizzy but, they are from another reality.”
“They are from another reality?” Carole said with surprise, “What is next? Our counter parts start to come?”
“Now calm down Carole,” Ms. Liz replied, “I don’t think they are in war with us.”
Carole was so shocked that she handed the phone to Robin. Carole walked out and went to the bathroom.
“What do I tell these people?” Robin asked Ms. Liz.
“Well, asked them why they are here,” Ms. Liz replied, “And then tell them to get back to their reality as soon as possible.”
Robin nodded and hung up the phone.
“Ok, why are you guys here?” Robin asked.
“That’s an easy one,” Reality-B Lizzy replied, “I wanted a break from my own reality.”
Reality-B Denise nodded in agreement.
“Well, it’s not a good idea to hang around here for too long,” Robin said, “You guys need to get back to your reality.”
“This Robin is right,” Reality-B Denise said, “We shouldn’t be here. We as human beings aren’t meant to literally take a break from reality, as in go visit another reality.”
“But Denise,” Reality-B Lizzy said, “It is cool here, it’s like the world in my fictional story.”
“Sorry Lizzy,” Reality-B Denise replied, “But we’re not meant to be here. Can you please draw a reality symbol on that wall?”
As soon as Robin heard that, Robin knew right then and there Reality-B Lizzy sneaked some alchemy chalk with her back to Reality-B.
“Both of you are leaving and you’re also leaving that chalk with me as well,” Robin said.
“Can I just stay here for a bit?” Reality-B Lizzy asked as she finished drawing the reality symbol.
“I can’t force you to go but, don’t cry if you can’t get back,” Robin replied as she sighed.
Reality-B Denise jumped into the vortex and was back in her office in Reality-B. Reality-B Ms. Liz was in front of her desk waiting for Denise.
“Denise!” Reality-B Ms. Liz yelled, “Where have you been?”
“I know you won’t believe me but, I was in another reality,” Reality-B Denise replied.
“Where is Lizzy?” Reality-B Ms. Liz asked, “I really needed her to set up the new Dance Dance Revolution Game for me.”
“She is still in the other reality,” Reality-B Denise replied as she sighed.
Reality-B Ms. Liz was now worried; she was also worried about the fact when her aunt comes in, what will she tell her if she doesn’t see her right away? She just can’t tell her, “Oh, Lizzy went to another reality.” No one is going to buy that one.
Back to Reality-A, Reality-B Lizzy is talking to Denise. Denise couldn’t believe that Reality-B Lizzy would just run away from her problems. What was Reality-B Lizzy’s problem? Well let’s find out now.
“Reality-B Lizzy,” Denise said, “I am just curious, why did you run away from your reality?”
“I didn’t want to be a laughing stock at today’s gaming event,” Reality-B Lizzy replied with a sigh.
“That’s it? “ Denise said, “I am sure they won’t laugh at you.”
“They did the last time,” Reality-B Lizzy replied sadly.
“But don’t you have people that miss you in your reality?” Denise asked.
“Yes I do but they wouldn’t notice it.” Reality-B Lizzy replied.
“Oh yes they would notice,” Denise said, “Want to see it?”
Denise took out Ms. Liz’s magic reality minor, she set it to Reality-B and that’s when Reality-B Lizzy began to realize how many people were wondering where she was. That’s when Reality-B Lizzy got to thinking, Maybe I should go back.
“Thanks Denise,” Reality-B Lizzy said happily as she went to the back of the library.
Reality-B Lizzy started drawing the reality symbol on the wall but then, she ran out of alchemy chalk. Reality-B Lizzy sighed and said, “I brought to on myself. Only if I had listened to this reality’s Robin and went with Denise back to my reality.”
That’s when Reality-B Lizzy began to cry.
“I’m never going to get back,” Reality-B Lizzy said, “I’m going too stuck here forever.”
Mr. Adams heard Reality-B Lizzy crying and walked over to her.
“Don’t cry Lizzy,” Mr. Adams said as he tried to comfort her, “You won’t be stuck here forever, just believe in the magic in your heart, and dreams you have.”
Reality-B Lizzy looked at Mr. Adams and her tears began to disappear. She then looked into Mr. Adams eyes and smiled.
“I know I will make it home,” Reality-B Lizzy said as she put her hand on the wall, “I won’t be stuck in this reality that isn’t my own.”
“That’s the spirit,” Mr. Adams said happily as he took out his alchemy chalk and drew the final line, “Remember Lizzy, escaping reality literally is never an answer to lives problems.”
“Bye Bye,” Reality-B Lizzy said happily, “Thanks sir, maybe I’ll see you in my dreams.”
Mr. Adams nodded and watched Reality-B Lizzy fade away. That’s when Lizzy walked over to Mr. Adams.
“Mr. Adams,” Lizzy said, “Why did you do that?”
“Well, she learned her lesson and also,” Mr. Adams replied, “She just wanted to go home.”
“No, what I meant was, what did you just do there?” Lizzy asked, “I noticed that you compromised her memory.”
“Well, let’s keep that between you and me, ok?” Mr. Adams replied.
“Ok then,” Lizzy said with a smile, “At least they won’t remember that they were in this reality, unless they make another attempt to come here.”
“Yeah,” Mr. Adams said as he walked towards the elevators.
Back in Reality-B, Reality-B Lizzy woke up in the children’s auditorium and yawned.
“I had a strange dream,” Reality-B Lizzy said as she looked at the time, “Why didn’t you wake me up sooner?”
“Well,” Reality-B Michael said, “We tried to wake you up.”
“But, you just wouldn’t wake up,” Reality-B Fabian added, “Come on now; Liz needs you for the Dance Dance Revolution game.”
“Ok, let’s get ready to party!” Reality-B Lizzy said happily as she reminisced about the dream she had, “You know some Canadian guy was in my dream. I wasn’t sure if it was my fictional character that I made up or if he was a real person from another reality.”
“We can always talk about that Canadian guy another time,” Reality-B Fabian replied as he was trying to rush Lizzy, “We need to help Liz now!”
“Ok,” Reality-B Lizzy said happily as they ran to the big auditorium.
Back in Reality-A, Only three people remembered that people from another reality came and those people are, Mr. Adams, Ms. Liz, and Lizzy. Everyone else’s memories were altered that way they wouldn’t remember what was going on. And as usual, only one person from Reality-B vaguely remembers the events from this day and you know who that person is. But it all seemed like a dream to her.
