They great thing about doing fan-art is that I don't take it as seriously as my fantasy art, and so I feel more comfortable trying new styles and different techniques. Even still, I was so pleased with the sketch for this that it took a while for me to work myself up to finish this. I was determined that I would do this piece without any inked line-art. While I certainly got a little sloppy in wolf-link's fur, and the shading could be a bit more consistent, I am quite happy with this. And I generally think the lack of inked line-art worked really well for this piece.
Amusing side-note, it was only very, very recently that I realized I didn't have to waste my good, expensive black markers for background fills and that cheaper black markers work just fine for that sort of thing :)
