p.s. it's kind of ironic that a character who cut himself on purpose to satisfy his evil deity stops cutting himself and turns to good... then promptly gets a god-given power and starts bleeding randomly to heal people. Proving that if you don't cut yourself the gods'll do it for you!

Well it could be worse, he could spew lymph fluid (immune system fluid, typically clear and mucus-y).
That'd just be gross....
But in some ways it'd make more sense.
Lymph fluid is associated with healing and an immune response, which would be helpful when injured.
