A bed time Story

there was a girl
so young so sweet
but she doubted
anyone she'd meet
she scared all away
because of her mind
her darkness and thoughts
were not so refined
she saw a young knight
stride into her court
she ordered more walls
of a different sort
she put up walls
inside of her heart
not wanting another
to pick her apart
young knight, intrigued,
became her friend
not to give pity,
but a kind hand
he knew too well
all of her past
as he, too, lived
a life downcast
after some time
she knew inside
that he didn't want
to sneer or snide
after a while
he asked for more
with blissful joy,
forevermore,
she awakened
so fearfully
her heart beating
him nearest me
she now knows him
he loves her so
and now my darling
to dreamland we must go.
