Couple of sketches of creatures in Zhatica. That dragonface is Zo'i, my dragon-human halfling boy. The Koro obsesses over him like an old granny over a kitten, and hugs him at least three times a day. He's her favourite of all my characters. I'm...not entirely sure why. He just holds great cuddle temptation for her, for some reason.
That little image is another greatcat of Zhatica, found most commonly in the Great Southern Forest(shut up. It's a simple title and I can remember it easy) along Zhatica's south/southeastern coastlines.
The Maned Scuttleback is one of two maned greatcats, and is a close relative of the skribbat, as is visible from its small size, large, keen ears, and large. A unique feature of the Maned Scuttleback's anatomy is that it possesses an unusually large spine that portrudes out of its back. The Maned Scuttleback feeds on the giant scuttleback crabs of Zhatica's southeastern coastline, and when it reaches six months of age and is about half grown, it will kill and devour a scuttleback the same size as itself. It will then maneuver the crab's multi-shell armour onto its back, which as it finishes growing will become fully ingrained into the greatcat's spine and remain a part of it for the rest of its days. Maned Scuttlebacks travel in prides, and the king or queen will always be a cat who's spine has grown abnormally large and protrudes through the shell armour. The Maned are some of the most intelligent of the greatcats, to the extent they possess a simple societal structure: Queen/King, Warriors, Hunters, Harem, Current Mating Pairs, and Cubs. Warriors tend to also have a slightly protruding spine, but not to the extent of the king or queen. Hunters are often leaner, smaller, and possess larger claws. Mating pairs are made up of any two individuals of the pride, whether they be king/queen and harem member, warrior and hunter, king/queen and either warrior or hunter, etc. The society's chain of authority is:
