Metroid Interface Chapter 6

6. Twilight Falling

Samus lightly hopped off the large mammal and faced the overbearing walls. Using her scanner, she quickly studied the structure and finding the building simplistic in design, she could merely jump over its walls, and even her standard could do that. Epona let out an uneasy nay. Bending her knees, the hunter felt her muscles contract, and feeling the energy in her space boots, she easily cleared the stone fortifications, leaving the horse in her wake.
Landing with a slight puff emitting from under her footwear, Samus stood erect to consider her surroundings. Link should be around here. Limbs and bodies lay everywhere, scattered and thrown about with a mess of mingled blood. As Aran put one foot in front of the other, she put her hand to her scanner and began checking the bodies, scanning for any sort of help. By now, the light of the torches in the square were burnt out, and as Samus made it to an opening in the town, her eyes fell upon two figures in the advancing moonlight.

A woman crouched over Link’s body, now flat on the cool stone. The hero’s light blue fairy whipped about franticly, sending out little waves of noise sounding like chiming bells. Slowly Samus approached the other outline, spying the blonde hair sparkling in the moonlight. Blood pooled around the fallen hero, and as she drew closer, the other figure alerted and stood up, gripping her hand in annoyance. Samus looked about the small area, noticing Link’s arm, covered and pinned to the stone in a growing, pink tissue. The other woman’s lake-blue orbs were wide. Samus could see tears.
“He doesn’t have any fairies. We have to get him to the Great Fairy,” she stated with a pale face. “Only the fairy can help him.”

As Samus walked she followed the perfectly attired female, and watched with curiosity as her white and pink skirts flowed behind her. Her hair was long and graceful, covered with small jewels and a crown. She was shapely and beautiful, with the looks of an angel. Her ears were like Link’s, and in them were earrings. Aran heard Link’s breathe as she carried him on her back. The other blonde, leading Samus further inside the town, began to explain as they shifted sharply to avoid a massive fountain in the middle of the town. Its water was nothing but blood. There was no noise in the town, and there were no people; only lifeless outlines in the darkened corners.
“I am Zelda, Queen of Hyrule,” she started quietly, glancing back to Samus with her tress following her movements. “And I know who you are.”
“How,” Samus heard as Link groaned, watching as his blood continued to leak onto her suit, embedding and slipping into small crevasses of the design.
“I know everything about this land.” She replied simply.

By this time the trio had left the town and entered onto a dirt path. As Samus looked about in wonder when her eyes met with utter amazement at sight of a large castle. Grass and flowers dotted the small area in front of it, and Aran could hear running water from a small mote about the structure. This placed seemed untouched and beautiful compared the carnage just seen. Once again, everything was quiet. Not even the sounds of crickets were heard.
“This is Hyrule Castle.” Spoke the queen. “Now hurry, we’re close.”
Passing through a gate, Zelda quickly nodded to Aran as they descended down a small slope and faced a small hole in a seemly dead end. Zelda took a glance to Link and frowned in irritation before turning to the dirt bank. Closing her eyes, Samus heard as the other’s voice came forth, heavenly and sweet, in the form a small lullaby. It filtered through the area with a seemly healing and comforting effect, calming the atmosphere with ease. This singing last a few minutes before Zelda grew still and the two women waited, only the sound of Link’s hurt inhales and exhales in their ears.
Then, the dead end began to shake and tremble, and Samus watched with awe as the small hole within the dirt wall expanded and opened up, growing just big enough for all of them to enter. Zelda, not at all fazed by this phenomenon, moved forward, nodding for the hunter to follow.
The trio entered into a darkened area, feeling as the entrance behind them closed. Within a few steps, the hunter came into the light of green torches and a stone walkway. Straight ahead was a great fountain, the water rippling with a supernatural taste. As they drew closer Link let out a small yelp, and Samus had to stop. Zelda went ahead of her, coming face to face with the small fountain and gliding up two low steps. Samus watched with quiet wonder as the Princess stepped onto a strange symbol, the same gracing her earrings and overall dress. Once again she sang.
Not knowing what to expect, Samus looked around in sudden alarm as a laugh rang through the small room, watching as a figure danced up from the water in the fountain. She took note of the vine-like coverings of a woman, sitting on nothing but thin air, as if floating on the very water particles surely splashing up in invisibility. She put her hand to her rosy cheek, her reddish hair dancing out off her form, a crown of vegetation on her head. She gave Zelda a sympathetic expression, understanding in her red eyes.
“Oh, Princess Zelda,” she spoke with unintentional chuckles of livelihood. “I wasn’t expecting to see you in my fountain.” Zelda smiled, but there was serious determination in her eyes.
“Great Fairy of Magic,” she started, “Link needs you.” The fairy closed her eyes and nodded.
“Of course, bring him to the fountain; I will soothe his wounds as I have promised to for years.” The fairy extended her hand in a gesture and motioned for Samus to step forward. Cautiously the hunter did so. Unsure of what to do next when upon the steps, she looked to the fairy. “Place him in the water. It seems he can’t stand, can he?” She smiled with hurt as Aran gently lowered the hero in the water, his blood strangely flowing only a second before it stopped.

The Great Fairy, outstretching her hands over the man, seemly used magic to lift his wounded form up, horizontal in the air, waving her fingers above his body. A light soon engulfed the man, and his face calmed with tranquil relief. The wound of his dismembered arm closed and became nothing but a stub of his former glory. Link opened his eyes slowly and found his body descended to the top of the stairs. Zelda sighed with relief and looked to Link’s injury.
“Thank you Great Fairy,” Zelda spoke. Then, as if afraid to ask something, she paused, staring down at the white floor with uncertainty. Link began checking himself over, surprised at his handicap and his awaken.
“What is it Princess?” inquired the fairy with enjoyment sprinkled towards Link. Zelda inhaled, stopped, and then bravely looked to the magical woman.
“But, what about his arm,” the fairy shook her head, watching as Zelda’s expression contrived in sadness.
“There’s nothing I can do about his arm. I don’t have the power to restore what has been lost,” Zelda’s eyes lowered and she grew quiet, “but,” continued the fairy with a tender smile, looking to the downcast Link as he studied his arm, and then as he stared to her with hope at the small word, “I know someone who can.”
“Who?” asked Link in haste, fully recovered except the injury, “Who can help?” Zelda leaned forward expectantly. Samus just waited, remembering she needed the data from her scanner.
“The Water Fairy, my cousin.”
“Water Fairy, where?” demanded the hero.
“She’s in a far off land outside Hyrule, a land made up of many different Kingdoms combined.” The Great Fairy looked to the entrance as if thinking. “It’s a land far more dangerous.” The woman gazed to the hopeful others, “But, now, with these monsters roaming about here, who knows?”
“How do we get there?” Questioned Zelda, looking to Samus and then to the fairy.
“You’ll have to pass through the Mirror of Twilight and talk with the Princess there.”
“How can we? Midna shattered the mirror! There’s no way we can pass through to her dimension.” Zelda spoke hastily, her heart jumping at the thought.
“Yes, but someone has been collecting pieces of the mirror, haven’t they?” implied the female with playfulness. Link smiled with happiness, glad at the thought and chance to meet Midna, but at the same time embarrassed that he had been found out. Zelda’s heart fell at sight of his beaming face and shame.
“We have to talk to Midna?” he questioned with an uplifted tone.
“Well, of course. Her land extends much farther than that of Hyrule. She’s the Princess of Twilight, and often uses the technology from my cousin’s land, Sinian, to run her kingdom.”
Samus tuned in at the word technology. Stepping forward, she removed her helmet to look into the eyes of the fairy.
“Technology,” she repeated, “can she help me decode this data?” Samus pulled out the scanner drive and showed it to the woman. The fairy smiled with amusement and laughed.
“I don’t know anything about technology, but the Princess of Twilight might. And, if not her, she’d be able to direct you to someone who can. After all, travelling through dimensions is very useful.”

So,

UPDATE. Chapter 6 "Twilight Falling"

I know, been awhile since I updated. Was reading through the story, saw some mistakes, fixed them, and now updated. Short chapter.

Since Lufia and the Fortress of Doom doesn't seem to have a name for the overall planet or region as a whole they're on, I just made one up. I had to change some things, even tho I think Lufia is just a bunch of different Kingdoms, I combined most of them into one land. :p Like, a different planet.

Tell me what you think, sorry for the shortness, things will start to come together soon!

Hope you like!
