So this is the fifth project in my scene painting class. It's suppose to be an ornament of some kind. This project was a pain in the ass! There are so many layers of shadowing and highlighting, it's like I had to repaint the whole thing 10 times! (that and I had to trace the damn thing 3 times!)
But in the end, it looks alright. I really like how my marble came out.

Lovely painting! You should probably work more on using colors other than black to shadow and white to hilight, such as that ruddy-brown you used for the background. Also, it would probably have more depth if you had a lighter color between your base color and just the plain white highlights. I love the subject, and you're right, the marble turned out fabulously!
