Final project for anatomy class during my 2007 fall term. We had to do a five panel board in which we transform a hand into any existing bug with six legs and no butterfly/moth wings. Of course I picked the most appealing and most phallic-joke-inducing insect of them all: the cockroach. We had to draw these with a fountain pen, on half of a white bristol sheet (11" x 28.5")

If you have never used a fountain pen before I really recommend you to try it. They have their downsides when it comes to handling and convenience and they can leave heavy stains on your artwork, but they make beautiful line art. It's much easier to make straight, non-shaky calibrated lines with these than with felt pens in my opinion anyway.

This was done without a lightbox. I just used a few ruler tricks when doing my sketches to help me out.
