Darkness of the Deception - edit

WARNING: This piece spoils the main villian of Elementals and some crucial things about the Keeper. It is long because I've been dying to rave about it for a while now. So! If you don't want to be spoiled, just skip down to the next bolded part. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED KTHX.

Companion piece to Light of the Savior. Told you I'd get it done.

So, who is this lovely girl with the red background and the lifeless eyes? I've introduced her on my SA before, but very little is said about this gal. Until now, anyways.

This is Kestra. Her name, in the ancient Serin language, is a strange one. Truthfully, it means "Deception", but it can mean whatever you want it to before you find its true meaning. She was a Keeper before Reili was even born. She doesn't appear too much in Serin history, and it's taboo to speak freely of her. But why?

Well...Kestra's what you would call a Tainted Keeper. The Keeper is supposed to stay pure and innocent, deaf to the sly words of evil and darkness. Kestra started out pure, just as every Keeper does, but soon fell to her greatest weakness--her thirst for knowledge. It started out innocently enough: she wanted to learn of all the Keeper's duties. But as she researched more and more, she learned of the Keeper's ultimate gift--something only the Keeper and the Crystals know of--and became obsessed with it, researching it constantly and coming to the conclusion that the gift should be put into effect...immediately.

You see...the Keeper's ultimate gift is the complete revival of Serin. A reset, if you will. They harness the combined powers of the Crystals to revive Chaos and--restart Serin, if you will. It kills everything and everyone, save for the Keeper, but it revives and brings back life as well. It's only used to "cleanse the world of evil if no other way is possible" as one of the readings say. This is why, when the Keeper is captured or the Crystals deem it so, the Crystals are sent away, because if anyone else could harness that power, it would mean the next revival would be in their control.

Kestra believed that Serin was full of people who deserved to die, and wanted to harness Chaos to destroy Serin permanently. The Crystals, who had long suspected foul play in Kestra's mind, learned of her plan and seperated from her, seeking the Chosen, to save Kestra--or kill her.

The Chosen at that time believed Kestra had simply been kidnapped--because the Crystals never revealed what was truly wrong. They wanted to believe that THEIR Kestra was still around somewhere. But when the Chosen finally confronted the Keeper, it was all too clear that she was beyond salvation. When the Crystals informed the Chosen what needed to be done, the Chosen, horrified, refused. The Crystals ended up killing their Keeper and sealing her behind a mirror, as the girl refused to Ascend or Descend. The mirror was placed at the highest room in the Tower of Spirals, and as time passed, was forgotten...

...until Reili found it. *DUN DUN DUN*

I liked doing Kestra more than Reili. Maybe it's because her orb looks more kickass.
