Background: After Kio gets sick, Ran gets worried and tells her to stay home. Because of Conan's 'age' and assumed lack of resistance, he is told to stay away from her but Conan takes the risk anyway to speak to her, dismissing the worst outcome. Later, the worst comes true and he falls sick. Now, he's presented with the biggest threat to his identity. This leaves Kio is with a choice... let him off and help him hide his identity or spill the beans.
