Alzeran chapter 3
Chapter 3
The elves forces moved into Ienswar. They looked for many things. Supplies, helpful information, and survivors were among these.
The women and children were spared, as long as they swore not to tell anyone else about their position.
They discovered many helpful items in the city, and decided to stay there for the night.
The next day a meeting was held to decide what action to take.
“I say we try to break down which ever force is currently the strongest, other than us of course.” Grondavor suggested.
“That would normally be the orcs, but unfortunately, it seems as though the trolls and the ogres have formed an alliance. They also seek to get the giants involved. We must stop this alliance before it can gain too much power.” Said Shal’ arit.
Selvane inspected the map on the table in front of him. Ienswar was near the west coast of the land. East of it was orc territory. East of that were ogres, and north of them were the giants. The trolls were scattered throughout all the land. “I think that no matter what we want do, we will not be able to do it without first taking the land of the orcs,” he said.
“I think Selvane is right. It will slow us down, but if we do not have control of that territory, we can not hope of doing much damage to the alliance.” Said Grondavor.
“Then it is settled. This afternoon, we start our march to Talon City, the orc capital,” said Shal’ arit.
That afternoon, the gates of Ienswar were opened, and the elves departed the dwarven city.
By nightfall, they could see the massive wall marking the start of orc territory. The whole wall was packed with archers and orcs to operate the search lights. Shal’ arit was worried that the orcs would spot them and have an upper hand. Knowing that elves could go many days without sleep, he ordered an attack on the wall, only using archers.
“Every archer pick an orc, and when I give the order, hit it!” ordered Shal’ arit.
The archers grabbed their arrows and held them to their bow strings.
“Fire!”
The archers released. The orcs were caught off guard in a shower of arrows. The elf archers were extremely well trained, and each of them had hit their target easily.
The few remaining orcs aimed their bows, but did not get any chance to fire, as the veteran archers had a second arrow to their bows as soon as the first left. The orcs fell upon the bodies of their brothers.
The elves were cautious of any more orcs that might be hiding. They crept out near the base of the wall. Some sorcerers were ushered to the front. They used magical blasts to deteriorate the wall. In a minute, there was a hole big enough for five elves to pass through.
The army started through the hole. It took half an hour to get the whole army through.
“We rest here for the night. In morning, we march for the capital!” shouted Shal’ arit.
The elves put up the tents. Most settled in for the night.
Selvane was busy with the tent, while Grondavor was making a fire.
“I think the orcs will be mighty hard to kill,” said Korai.
“Well, they’re not that smart, so they should be only a bit harder than the goblins,” Grondavor said jokingly.
“Hey, don’t tell me your going racist!” Selvane teased. “Cuz’ if you are, I want to join the club!”
The group laughed and sat down around the fire.
The group spirits were kind of low from the battle with the dwarves. They had been friends with the dwarves for hundreds of years.
“Tomorrow is going to be a long day. We better all get some rest,” Sundavar said.
“Ya,” agreed Tirash.
They dispersed and went to their tents, only Grondavor staying behind, to put out the fire.
To morrow would be a much harder day for them than most of them could imagine.
Authors Note: From this point on in the story, I am going to be throwing in a lot of
plot twists, and start telling the story from where different people are, because
I think it might be kind of boring just to hear about the
elves all the time. Anyway be prepared for a lot of plot twists! Thanks.
