Alzeran Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Within three days the army had been gathered, recruiting anybody who wanted to join. The army headed for the dwarf city of Ienswar to find out what was going on.
On the second day of the journey around noon, the company stopped to rest for a few minutes.
Through the forest, goblins awaited to ambush them. Goblins were extremely dumb but not bad fighters.
Selvane walked over to where Korai and Grondavor were having a snack of bread and cheese.
“Mind if I join you?” he asked them.
“Not at all,” replied Grondavor.
Selvane sat down and ripped off himself a chunk of bread, and took four slices of cheese.
“I sure am excited to fight in battle,” said Korai. “I have never actually been in a real battle, just skirmishes.”
“It will definitely be different than what we have gone through back at Shardam,” Grondavor said.
Selvane looked up the hill to see somebody running down waving his arms. “Do either of you know who that is?” he asked pointing to the elf.
“No,” said Grondavor.
Korai shook his head chewing on a piece of bread.
Selvane got up and sprinted to where the elf was running.
“Help!” the elf shouted. “Goblins are coming to attack us!”
“Who are you?” Selvane asked him.
“I am Sundavar, and the goblins will be upon us in minutes. We must warn the rest of the army!”
The two of them set off down the hill into the camp shouting. Soldiers starting getting their weapons and getting into formations.
The two came to the general, Shal’ arit.
“Goblins plan to attack us. They should be upon us in about thirty seconds!” Selvane told the general.
Shal’ arit got a horn and blew loudly three times. The sound carried over the whole camp and all activity ceased. The elves all turned and stared at the general.
“Everybody prepare for battle! Goblins are upon us!”
At that very moment a volley of arrows came over the hill and dug into the front line of the army. Twenty elves fell.
“Send them a volley!” yelled Shal’ arit.
The elves archers let go a storm of arrows over the mountain. Screams came from behind and a second later, the goblins charged over the side of the hill and plummeted down colliding with the elf army head on.
Swords, axes, lances, and many other weapons were swung and twirled. Goblins and elves alike fell by the tens.
However unlike the goblins, the elves had a strategy. The archers were stationed in the back of the army, and through the duration of the battle, they volleyed arrows into the heart of the goblin army.
The magicians were directly in front of the archers, blasting the goblins with different spells from fire to shadow.
The goblins kept their charge steady. Each one that died was instantly replaced by another.
The elves steadily pushed them back. They advanced upon the hill and charged up it. There were no archers remaining on the goblin side and the warriors were being completely over run and out smarted.
A goblin retreat was issued, but it took several minutes to get the goblins away from the battle.
The elves archers were rushed onto the hill, and in a second a volley of arrows was chasing the goblins as they retreated.
Another volley followed it two seconds later.
The goblins were now extremely confused. They had no clue where to run, and most were defenseless as they had dropped their shields in fear.
The archers finished them off in a minute, and the army pushed forward to Ienswar. This time there were constant scouts in all directions reporting back to the general every ten minutes.
They stopped some two hours later and settled for the rest of the day. Most of the elves were completely worn out from the battle, and they were the lucky ones.
The next day, they traveled for some time and at around five o’clock the army arrived at their destination: Ienswar, capital of the dwarves.

Getting better! Now it isn't a strain on the eyes. Thanks for that.
I think a larger description of the battle would have added suspense to the fight. Perhaps focusing on the main characters from the previous chapter.
