Summer Breeze :Chatper 1:
Sidka looked up at the clouded sky, "I must find shelter soon." she thought to herself. She could already smell the rain coming in a flurry. She stood up and stuttered as her bulging stomache heaved back and forth. Her bangs fell over her left eye as she looked at her contracting stomache. In the distance she could hear the bugle of her stallion waiting for her return in the morning. She could still picture his handsome dark bay coat against her blurred blue roan coat as the groomed each other, and huddled for warmth. Compared to her fur, his was velvet, and her own was bristled. Suddenly she relised that she was once again lost in her own thought, and she started to trot toward a large group of fir trees. Under the cover she hastily lied down, and listened to the call of her stallion.
Three hours later, a fragile and timid foal stood next to her mother. The foal let out a frail whinny as it leaned against Sidka. Sidka whinnied back, as it suckled. Sidka leaned down to look into the foal's face, "My, my" she said softly "you are so fragile, since you are my first foal, you have to be protected with my life." She smiled slightly, and licked the foal's shoulder blade. She looked at the foal's shiny black coat proudly. "Lona," she muttered before she dozed off. Lona yawned sleepily, and layed down next to her mother, under a heavily scented fir tree. In her dream Lona could see all of the new sights running through her mind. Her mother thought to herself just before she dozed, "I hope the herd will accept her.
