Description

Finally finished! I've been dragging this one for at least a week or so. O.O
I really wanted to reflect the events happening over here. I think it was the end of march when two 14-year-old girls killed themselves. 0__0 They've been followers of the "Emo Style" (that's what they call it in the news) and all of a sudden there was a great uproar. "The kids suffer" and e.t.c., and e.t.c. There were special reports on the TV as well. And everybody started asking "What does "emo" mean?" and "How come I don't know about this?"

Emo: Etymology: Abbreviation of emotional
Definition of the noun: A young person who is considered to be over-emotional
Definition of the adjective: 1. Emotional; sensitive
2. Depressed
3. Associated with youth subcultures embodying emotional sensitivity

So whenever something happens there's this great tsunami, everybody starts panicking. And then? It's all the same. It just doesn't feel right.
So everyone! Be more thoughtful. Treasure yourselves and don't become slaves of any culture or style. It's not worth it.

Thanks for the attention and if by chance I've offended anybody, please, forgive me. That's been by no means my target.

Very nice.

jambii Says:

it's not a culture. it's clothing, or hair styles, and people acting like fucking retards, thinking that their suffering will get them positive attention. but what i have noticed with scene kids is that they just need to grow the fuck up. it's misleading, acting all hyper and happy-hardcore one moment, then all BAWWW I WANT TO KILL MYSELF. maybe THEN they'll get the attention they wanted, when they actually die when they're not even trying to.

done rant

Churamai Says:

This is amazingly done! and the message you're trying to send out....it's just all win! X3
I'll keep everything you've said here in my mind forevah! Thankyou thankyou thankyou for posting this!

purple cartoon Says:

Amazing. I love it... Words fail me.

And I so agree with the message you're trying to send. Kids shouldn't throw their lives away like that. They could've done something, been someone, changed the world. But no. They were just too fed up with their petty little problems and dramas. Don't they even see what they're doing?

*sigh* Sorry. I have a tendency to rant. A very emotional, amazing piece. The world needs more people who believe in the same things we do.

Syan Says:

Very good picture.
I honestly feel the same as you. The clothes and hair styles rock. Their different. And people aren't dumb for liking them. It's just generally the young who are "EMO". And the young are susceptible. I don't agree with suicide really either. This coming from someone who once was suicidal, and also was friends with a couple people who were also. (I never told them to stop. It's not my place to put my foot down, nor would it make them stop if I told them to. Thankfully I don't think they are as bad anymore.)

I understand suicide outside the EMO culture. It's the feeling of not being able to go on in your life, and thus what's the point? They kill themselves because they feel they have nothing else. But within the culture you are very right. It is almost ritualistic. They don't think before they do it. They die without realizing that's not what they want. Suicide is natural. Fad induced suicide is not, and this picture shows that perfectly.

I hope this picture reaches out to a lot of people. It's powerful, plus beautiful.

(sorry for my tangent.)

gotiki Says:

Most emos aren't suicidal at all, and just act the part to get the attention they desire. But really, it's just a fucking clothing style and genre of music.

Also, cutting horizontally doesn't kill, unless you, like, go through the arm. To commit suicide by wrist-slashing, you must cut along the arm, rather than across. This slits a very important vein that then bleeds uncontrollably until the slasher dies from blood loss.

Emo "culture" isn't about suicide, it's about wearing really tight clothing, having long, dark bangs, and listening to bands like Jimmy Eat World and Fall Out Boy (if you're into light stuff) or My Chemical Romance and The Devil Wears Prada (if you like heavier or darker stuff). And, of course, pretending your life is oh-so-hard and crying a lot and writing shitty poetry. Not suicide. Most emos would never go that far, they secretly enjoy life too much.

NarutoAnimeLuver Says:

I have a lot of emo friends (not emo myself) and honestly sometimes I can see where they come from and I agree suicide shouldn't be looked at as a good thing but if you hear some of their stories I can't even imagine what I would be driven to do!

Your picture is very powerful too
don't take what I said in the wrong way i agree with what your trying to get across!

vampirebride Says:

omfg emo does not mean depressed or suicidal, or cutting or any of that crap. not to sound like a nazi but omg people need to just notice that people that are emo are actually happy! they like fashion and they like each others company. true emos don't like crap that harm them and they like peace. come on people. quit being stereotypical idiots

Chibi Pocky Says:

wow, this is very deep, i applaud you for such a catch of eye with this piece.
lovely drawn and shadding, just WOW, my eyes are wide.
