I will grow daisies for him, up and through the ground, though I have always been fond of lilies. The soft gentle touches of the earthworms over my skin are a comfort, wiggling fingers that breed sensations against skin that unwittingly turns the color of bleached cobalt.
...
It is not such a bad existence, however, feeding the earth. Truly I could ask for no better purpose than to become a garden, for at least a garden is free to love the air, the wind, and the rain...

Excerpts from my friend Anthony's story, So soft, your heart. It's a rather dark story but so, so beautifully written.

What I quoted above are essentially the sections that were the driving force behind this painting. Though I kind of left out the part where she's a decaying corpse. Well, I guess I wanted to illustrate her soul more than what she really is. The butterflies are there because in my art, butterflies always equate freedom.

I didn't expect to upload the finished product mere hours after uploading the previous version to my scraps but the butterflies didn't take very long given their relatively simple design--as well as the fact that they're all the same.

So yeah. This was one of those that, as soon as the idea hit me, I sat down and worked on it almost without interruption. I wish I could have that much motivation with *every* project I tackle and not just the ones that threaten to melt my brain if I don't obey The Muse. -.-

Incidentally, I thought about calling it "How does your garden grow" *L* I went with something a little more poetic and pretty though.

P.S. Wow...I didn't notice it until I saw the thumbnailed version but geez...Hello Stephanie Law influence, how are you today?

Lisa this is AMAZING. God, I've missed your artwork. I like that you did with the earth what you used to do with the sea - just cut it in half. Also liked how you used the watery background to emphasize the butterflies - it's very well done, and I would have never thought of that.
