A Mint-Flavored Rebellion [Part 2]
The green-haired warrior sported a brown robe, with hard, metallic armor on underneath. She was riding a butter-colored horse through scorched black ruins, the wind whipping through her hair and whispering in her ear. The earthy green color of her hair identified that she had some form of a magical prowess, though she had not yet unlocked it, even in her seventeenth year. They had to exist, however, for she had once had streaked blond hair. The transition to green had only begun two years ago
She leaned as far forward as she could, attempting to push the horse faster, but it had reached it’s limit. Nothing but fierce determination showed through on the warrior’s face, her misty green eyes locked on some readily approaching target.
Suddenly, she stopped. She yanked back on the reigns and the horse hopped on it’s back legs, attempting to keep from running into the figure ahead of it. It whinnied gently as it repositioned itself and it’s green-haired rider gently stroked it’s soft butterscotch mane.
The figure standing in front of her was hooded in a black cloak, barely visible to most amidst the charred remains of the castle, especially at so late an hour in the shadow of the last standing door. The
“Alyssa, I’m so glad you’re safe. I was afraid I was being followed.” Her soft voice was soaked with relief.
Alyssa just shook her head. “Mint, you of all people should know that I can take care of myself.” She patted her hip where a knife was tucked discreetly into her belt. “As long as everyone thinks you’re the mastermind behind it all.”
Mint nodded happily. “Yep. Everyone’s clueless. And we only have one city left to conquer; Assyn.”
Alyssa let out a wicked laugh, her hood falling back as she did so to reveal very beautifully structured features with two dusty violet eyes laid in. Beautiful, long auburn hair framed her face wonderfully. Her pale skin glowed in the moonlight, and her thick lips were covered in a thin layer of black lipstick. Her cruel beauty was almost unbearable.
“Wonderful,” her velvety smooth voice chimed out, “The land of my clan and the old capital. After we take it, the girls will finally be in power and the boys will be reduced to servants as we were.”
“Wait, what?” Mint’s eyes grew wide with surprise; she hadn’t been informed about this part of the plan.
“What? You didn’t honestly think we were going to just let them get away with doing that to us, did you?” Her voice was smooth even when she was annoyed and blunt. Obviously the work of some kind of her magic, also explaining the dark, dusty violet color of her mesmerizing eyes.
“But that makes us no worse than they! Besides, most of them are just innocent men, little more than children, who were born to the wrong parents in the wrong place at the wrong time.” She protested, her horse fidgeting anxiously below her.
“But do you see any of them trying to free us?” Alyssa spat in return.
“Yes, actually. I do. Besides, I doubt you would help were you in their position. Most of them wouldn’t protest if we just worked on setting up a new government and freeing the girls.”
“But some of them would, and if we don’t show them we mean business, then we’ll end up right back where we started. Besides, those unintelligible things are hardly fit to be called human.”
“That’s exactly the kind of thinking that started this whole mess.” Mint muttered solemnly as she turned her horse around, ready to urge it forth.
“Hey, what about the war? You can’t just stop right before we capture the enemy capital.”
Mint sighed, rolling her eyes. “Don’t worry, I’ll lead them through the last battle and then hand the reigns over to you. Everything will go exactly as you planned it, ma’am.” She added angrily, pulling her hood up and urging her horse into a run back to the camp. She was out of sight before Alyssa could say a word.
“What’s gotten into her?” She murmured quietly as she shrunk back into the shadows of the destroyed castle.
