The Night - DMC4 (and 3 somewhat)

The Night

The dark night welcomed all those who spared the evening for the adventure living. Sadly, none were available in one alley where a blue clad man began to walk its path. He had not strayed far from the cathedral and had just got back from dealing with the usual route of demons for the day.

Large pieces of the fountain still lay on the plaza where the evil Sanctus had destroyed it. The water had slightly rippled as he stepped in the pool. All of the townspeople were still too shaken upon the event that had occurred those long months ago, so none dared to come out until every last demon was dead. It was also a fact more powerful demons attacked in the night and dark morning that evolved into brighter evenings. Like said, none dared to venture out at this time, so it left him to be alone and calm in this only time.

His icy eyes stared into the pool below to find a pair staring back at him. An eerie turquoise glow showed up to brush away the silver from his eyes, getting a better glimpse at the face before him. It was the same as always.

Well bridged nose, handsome jaw line, healthy skin, right sided split hair with a demonic arm attached to the same side. It clenched into a fist still glowing its usual glow, then rested at his side.

“I wish I was never given this damned thing. It’s a nuisance, but it sure has saved me plenty of times. Without it…”

He paused, noticing her was thinking out loud to himself. A glimpse to the west and it showed a beautiful sunset Fortuna laden with gothic buildings and old time pike gates. A flock of night doves flew through the sky into the cathedral before, settling for the dusk at the very top with the bronze bell which still hung. Sanctus and somehow managed not to melt it with his fiery ray, attacking all the demons in harm’s way.

His gaze went back to the pool, and then shattered it with a distasteful spit, as if he despised its sight. He resumed his journey to the pathway which led inside the cathedral. Its door was still unlatched, but a rope ran across the doorway, permitting none to enter. A simple duck under the rope and he was inside the churches gathering sanctuary.

Large splinters of wood lay on the floor with papers of scientific notes and studies strewed everywhere. A blackened hole was through the center of all of them, making all of them seeming identical. Bullet casings were also in the midst of it all, glittering in the new coming moons’ light. The body of Agnus, the mad scientist, had been disposed of months ago, made sure to never be resurrected by a mere chance of luck or gift from a devil like himself.

But then, he was also human too. A being like himself was considered a hybrid, the product of a human and a devil’s curse.

A foot kicked away some of the papers which spilt blood was upon, then moved on to a bench which survived two ordeals. He sat down with legs apart and laid back. A sigh escaped him.

His thoughts began to wander, then fixate upon the time he had heard Kyrie’s last notes in her song; seeing her stand there in the limelight with a voice that was clearer than a bell, garbed in a white dress with golden thread that made a pattern which separated the upper torso from the bottom.

He swore she looked like a maiden from heaven when she was up there. He had gotten there just in time to listen her before coming down.

Though she sang as if in an opera, her voice was almost a whisper when she spoke; soft and delicate. He had known why she sounded like that all the time, because she was shy of him, hiding her true feeling away till after his final battle with Sanctus. Twice they had been interrupted, but the second time he was shy himself. He considered it idiotic from that day forward, avoiding her eyes, instead grabbing his hand.

He could remember her touch, gentle and relaxed, yet it clutched an unbonding grip on him. The hand came up, rubbing his thumb over his fingers.

It ailed him though, sending her away like that days after the defeat of the dreaded Sanctus. The town had to get cleaned up before she could come back, and the ongoing problem with demons kept him busy and on task.

Both of his eyes closed and he settled himself to remember her song. He had heard it times before, making him to never forget the lines she spoke. As he sang it in his head, music sounded with it, creating an orchestra in the dreamy state. Every sense of reality washed away as he imagined both of them slow dancing to the rhythm. Her face was a ray of light with a beaming smile, shining bright in his dark world.

Something clattered to the floor and he jumped to his feet, looking around wildly for the subject.

WOOT!
The thing finally loaded! (though common sense just struck me now)
CAPCOM is owner of Nero and other characters mentioned in the story along with the icon.
Writing is done completely by me.

Okay now for the description:
This takes place AFTER THE WHOLE GAME... just a few months (er weeks) after Sanctus's defeat. MAY HAVE SPOILERS BUT NOT MAJOR ONES! Be warned. Anyway, Nero is still cleaning up the town with the people but strays away from them to keep the demons away. But then certain happenings go on and soon his life becomes one filled with nothing he has ever endured before.

KEEP READIN AND WAITIN'
THE NEXT CHAPTER WILL BE UP WHEN I FIND MY NOTEBOOK!
