Chapter seven: Bloodlines, part one

"Please remember that I always loved you...."

Those words were still in Zelda's head. Not because Link said them, but because she was there, so to speak. Her dreams were filled with the memories of her past life. That morning, she looked at the Triforce on the back of her hand. So many things had happened in the past few days, it almost seemed a dream in itself. As she left her room, she ran into Link. "H.. h... hey there Link." says Zelda, "How are you today?" "Good morning to you to Ze." says Link. A gloomy expression on his face. "I told you before," says Zelda, "you can call me by my full name if you want." "Ze," says Link, "I'm going through a very confusing time right now. I have to at least hold on to something that can help me tell you two apart." "But....." says Zelda, "I.... I'm sorry. I guess I should have taken your feelings into account now. I'm starting to wonder about things between us too."

"Ze," says Link, "do not fall for me. My heart belongs to her, and I wonder if I'm just trying to replace her with you. You look like her, but....." "Link," says Ze, "listen to me. She's still with you. She will always love you. I can feel it. And I know that she would want you to be happy. Come on. It's Saturday. There's no school, and we have the whole day to ourselves. Let's go out and have some fun." "You mean like a date?" says Link. "No, no, no." says Zelda, her face blushing just a bit. "Just as friends. Nothing more. If I remember correctly, today is the last day of the carnival. So, come on Link, let's go."

Later on that day, at the carnival........

Ze and Link were on the Ferris wheel. Link was deep in thought. Sure, he and Ze were having a great time, but still, Zelda was still on his mind. As the car was near the top, they could see the entire fairgrounds. "Still thinking of her I see." says Zelda, "It's not like I want you to forget about her, but I just want to see you happy for once." "It's not that Ze." says Link, "Honestly, I've had a great time. But, with everything that's happened......." He looks at Ze. She was trying to force a smile. But, he can see that she was not really happy. "Ze," he continues, "things have changed a lot since we first met. I must know something for myself." He brings his face up to Ze's. He looks into her eyes. Ze's face turns red for a moment. She closes her eye, and.........

An explosion rocks the fairgrounds. Link looks up and sees a giant winged lizard in the sky. "Ganon...." says Link, "Ze, wait here." Getting out of his seat, he jumps onto the beast. They both crash into the ground. Link gets back up and sees the best already back up on it's feet. "So," says the beast, "you must be Link. Ganon gave me orders to destroy you." "What kind of monster are you?" says Link. "I am Ridley." says the beast, "Leader of the Space Pirates, and loyal servant of Ganon. But enough talk, it's time for you to die!"

He fires a fireball from his mouth at Link. Link manages to dodge just in time. Link was without his Master Sword. He looked around for any kind of weapon he could use. He saw the archery booth, and tried to grab a bow and some arrows. But, Ridley cut him off before he was able to make it there. The situation looked grim, and Ridley was right on top of Link. Ridley readied another fireball, when.......

Zelda shoots an arrow right into Ridley's eye. The beast screams in pain. "Get off of him you monster!" Zelda cries out. Ridley turns to Zelda, pulling the arrow out of his eye. "This sent...." says Ridley, "It can't be..." He approaches Zelda. "So...." he continues, "She had offspring. I'll take much joy in destroying you personally." "What are you talking about?!?!?" says Zelda, "Get away from me!" She readies another arrow, but is knocked down by Ridley. Link looks around, and sees a metal poll lying next to him. He picks it up, and strikes Ridley with it.

Ridley is knocked back. "It's seems I underestimated you." says Ridley as he gets back up. "As soon as I regain my strength, I will be back, for both of you." He then flies away.

"What kind of creature was that?" says Link, "I have never seen anything like that thing before." "I don't know about you," says Zelda, "but that thing knew something about me. I.... need to go home. I have questions I need answered." "Ze...." says Link, "Thanks back there. That thing would have killed me if you didn't shoot at it." "No need to thank me." says Zelda, "Call us even for the first time. Besides, I've always been good with the bow."

Later, and Ganontech HQ.......

"I am sorry Ganon." says Ridley, "I have failed you." "You have done more than enough." says Ganon, "Tell me, this girl who shot you, are you sure she is....." "No doubt about it Ganon." says Ridley, "She has the same sent as that woman." "So," says Ganon, "13 years later, and her daughter is now helping Link. This is an unusual development. But, this is also a good time to try out my new weapon. I have already sent out some Moblins after them. As for you my servant, I shall spare you my wrath, for now."

Meanwhile.........

Zelda and Link are on their way home. "Link," says Zelda, "were you just about to...... Never mind. I guess you should have taken your backpack today." "I didn't know Ganon's servants would attack today." says Link, "I guess I should take it with me at all times now." "That would be a good idea." says Zelda. She looks out at the sunset. "Link...." says Zelda, "There's something I want to tell you, but..... I am not supposed to. You see, do you know what happened to the Triforce of Wisdom?" Link suddenly stops in his tracks. "The Triforce of Wisdom?" says Link, "I have always wondered what happened to it. Ganon didn't get his hands on it, so I wonder where it went when Zelda died." "Link...." says Zelda, "I guess there is more in common between us than you know." She holds out her hand. The Triforce of Wisdom glows brightly from it. Link was shocked. "Where did you get that?!?!?" says Link. "Navi gave it to me." says Zelda, "I shouldn't have told you this much. I wanted to tell you, but if you knew, then Ganon might find out about me."

"You put yourself in a lot of danger Ze." says Link, "But, I know that you cannot refuse it's power either. I guess it's just something we have to deal with now." "Link...." says Zelda, "There's one more thing Navi told me too. I don't know how to say this, but....."

Just then, Link and Zelda were attacked by Moblins. "Dammit!" says Zelda, "You guys sure know how to ruin a moment!" "Ze!" says Link, "Get ready!" Link and Ze fight off the Moblins. But, during the fight, one of the Moblins pulls out a strange gun, and points it at Link. "Link!" says Ze, "Look out!!!" She pushes Link out of the way, and gets hit by a blast of cold energy. Link then runs up and knocks the weapon out of the Moblin's hands. "Ze!" Link cries out. Zelda lies there, not moving. The moblins gang up on Link.

Just then, a beam of energy hits one of the moblins. As Link looks up, he sees a floating sphere with an eye-like lens in the center of it. It continues to fire at the moblins, and in moments, destroys them all. "This is unexpected." says the orb, "I did not expect them to have cold type weapons."

Link runs over to Zelda. She doesn't respond. It almost seems she is in a coma. "Ze...." says Link, "Ze! Wake up!!! I'm not going to loose you!! Not like I lost her!!!" "You there," says the orb, "follow me. We must hurry before it's too late. She is in cold shock. A side effect of the metroid vaccination in her blood. We must get back to the ship."
