Yes Master Ch. 1
1. Vanilla Chai
Yam glared at it.
He stared at it with complete regret.
Mother’s day was coming up, and in his eighteen years of living, his gifts were anything but extraordinary. His mother was always saying she was grateful for anything she got, but often times contradicted her words by bringing up his lack of creativity and attentiveness. She always smiled and hugged him, but that seemly betraying look in her eyes always told him that she wasn’t impressed with his presents and found him unoriginal. Often times, Yam ran about last minute frantically searching through the garage and slapping a card together made out of construction paper.
Well, he had resolved to change that.
And so, as he leered at the gift, he growled in contempt. It was that feeling one gets when they think they like someone. They spend all their time pining and reaching for the other’s affection, only to find that once they have it, it means nothing. It was a waste of time, and the crush suddenly seemed…uninteresting and dull.
This is what Yam felt deep inside his frustrated soul.
He had carefully studied his mother for the past few weeks, and as his judgment day was only two days away, he felt confident in his abilities to get her something truly amazing and redeem himself.
But, there was one problem.
He didn’t like the gift. The gift was too bizarre. And while he wanted to get her a different present, he had no money. He was broke after spending his cash on this thing in front of him.
It looked like a vase.
It was plum-colored with large gold and blue swirls decorated on it. It was shaped like some sort of pregnant beer bottle. The top was thin and sleek but as Yam’s blue eyes travelled down, they suddenly met up with the engorged bottom. There was a large keyhole squarely in the middle, staring back at him with devilish glances.
Great, he thought miserably as he tiredly ran a hand through his brown, spiked and messy hair, I got her a pregnant vase. He looked to it again, glaring at it with what one would call hatred.
Screw it. This time he tried. This time he tried to his breaking point. The male’s orbs slowly moved to the small silver key sitting next to him. His mind began turning, and the more he thought, the more an idea began forming. His contemplations travelled back to what the shopkeeper had told him.
Unlock this, and all your wishes will come true.
Yam scoffed at the thought. Sounded like some sort of fairy tale dream. Who believed in fairy tales these days? But, as he continued to sit there, staring at the bottle, curiosity started to kiss him and tell him to grab the key.
Growling, he scooted over to the bottle, grabbed the key with hostile movements, and placed it into the lock, turning it until he heard a loud ‘click’. He felt a sudden pulse on the bottle, and while he tried to make sense of what was happening, a cloud of lilac smoke filtered through the room. Yam hurriedly scurried back to the wall nearest his room’s entrance, and watched as a carrot top emerged from within the clouds.
A girl had come out of the bottle. Yam saw the orange hair and the bright emerald eyes that seemed to dance with mischief as she turned to him. Her hair was in a long ponytail on her head, and she wore what seemed to be transparent Arabian pants that showed her long, slender legs. The bottoms were tight around her ankles and decorated with small little charms and beads that matched her hair tie. There was a darker lavender fabric around her abdomen, cleverly censoring what shouldn’t be seen by teen boys. Two small pointed ears, the right evident of a loop earring dotted with a small heart, were evident as she stuck out her tongue and winked at him.
Yam was speechless. As the smoke settled, he saw that the girl sat on a large wisp of cloud, her eyes staring at him with playful inquiry. She smiled at she shifted over to study his face, her fingers running a hand through his tress.
“Oh…you’re a cute one,” she smirked with a slight laughter in her tone. Yam couldn’t help at this point noticing the rather skimpy top she wore. It was a darker purple than her pants, matching the censoring fabric mentioned before, and certainly not see-through, but strapless with much of her belly and cleavage showing. There was a lock on a chain around her neck, and as her eyes stared into his, they wandered down to the key in his tight and trembling hand. She grinned.
“Okay! Let’s get down to business,” said the pretty voice as she moved to the middle of the room and stood on her cloud, “you get five wishes.”
“W-wishes,” Yam stuttered.
“Yes ‘w-wishes’ you silly boy. I am a genie after all,” said the girl with total assurance sprinkled with amusement. “I am Chai, your genie.” She saw his disbelieving face and stuck out her tongue. “Don’t believe me?”
“Five wishes? I thought genies only gave three.” Yam stated with doubt. Chai let out a loud ‘HAH’ that caused the young man to jump.
“Well, uhm…” she tapped her index finger to her pink lips, “what’s your name cutie?”
“Yam,” was the dull reply. Chai busted out into fits of hilarity.
“YAM, are you a sweet potato?” she managed between gasps as she rolled about on her cloud. She regained her composure in a flash and snapped her fingers, causing a large stack of papers to fall like a ton of bricks in front of the angered man. “Well, my little sweet potato, let’s go over the rules and regulations. One, I, your genie am not to be used for advertisement, sexual pleasures or profit. Two, I cannot interfere with free will or love. Three, once all the granted wishes have been fulfilled, I get to have one wish from the master.” Whilst saying all this, Chai’s back was turned, standing on her cloud and studying the small, untidy room with curiosity. “You get all that my lovable tater-tot?”
“What do you mean, ‘granted wishes’?” Chai grinned with rosy cheeks.
“Yes my little sugary French fry, ‘granted wishes’. Genies have a lot more power than you silly humans think, and we can grant our masters as many wishes as we want, depending on how much we like them.” She poked the tip of Yam’s nose, “And, my syrupy potato patty, I think I like you a lot.”
