Between Black & White: Broken Hearted Dreams Chapter 10
Between Black & White: Broken Hearted Dreams
Chapter 10: Scheming
Darkness had filled the empty classroom at the school of Stone High. It was still early morning, and the sun had barely even begun to show itself by that point. The school was already open for students to enter even though most teachers hadn’t even arrived as of yet. It was just about the time that Blaze and Louis would be leaving on their way.
In that dark classroom an early student sat, waiting. It was a female student with dark black hair, she was dressed in all black as well making her almost unnoticed to those who didn’t know she was there.
The door to the room slowly opened as light poured into the room from the hallway outside. The lights were already on in the halls of the school although the shade on the window of the door was down, allowing no light to penetrate the darkness of the room when the door was closed.
The door opened, allowing light to fill the room, and the face of the girl sitting in the darkness was reviled to be none other than Tiffany. The local tormentor at Stone High. Another girl stepped through the door at that time as well. This girl was taller, maybe even taller then Blaze, with reddish colored hair. She was a year older then Tiffany was and was widely known throughout the school as a bit of a tormentor herself. However she played on completely different levels then Tiffany and even Jasmine for that matter.
The girl quickly closed the door behind her leaving the room in darkness once again. Tiffany slowly stood up from behind the desk she had been sitting.
“You took your time getting here, Alice.” Tiffany spoke up with a confident tone of voice as she took a few steps in the direction of the red haired girl who stayed standing near the now closed door.
“Shut the hell up, just tell me what it is you want.” Alice, the red haired girl spoke up in an obvious annoyed voice. She had grown impatient and annoyed by the way that Tiffany spoke to her. She didn’t take crap from anyone and that included Tiffany.
“I already explained what I wanted you to do, what else do you need?” Tiffany questioned.
“Confirmation. It’s that new Blaze kid you want me to break, right?” The other girl questioned getting right down to business. The two of them had spoke on the phone the night before. However, Alice had told her to meet her there in the morning even though Tiffany had already explained what she wanted from her.
“That is if you can.”
Alice turned back towards the door, slowly opening it once again letting the light flood in. The light reviled that a grin had formed on her face by that time. “That sounds a lot like a challenge.” Alice stated before stepping out of the room, not closing the door behind her but instead leaving the door wide open with Tiffany standing near the other side of the now fully lit room.
Tiffany knew what Alice was capable of; she had confidence that she would be able to get the job done. To be the one to take care of her problem once and for all putting things back to the way they once were.
It was just around that time that Blaze and Louis were arriving at school. On their walk there they had talked about the same thing close to everyone else in the school had been talking about the day before, the little speed show Blaze put on in gym the day before. Blaze acknowledged that it was his own fault that he had attracted so much attention to himself. Yet it was something that he couldn’t avoid, and Louis understood that just from knowing Blaze for so long.
Blaze and Louis headed down the hall together, heading for their classroom. At that moment a male student, a year older then the two of them, came into view down the hall. He had long brown hair, longer then any other male student Blaze had seen yet in the school. This made him stand out more then anything. He wasn’t dressed oddly in anyway and he actually seemed as though he may have been a bit shorter then Blaze.
Normally he wouldn’t think anything weird about the fact that this boy was staring directly at him as most students there made it a custom to keep their eyes on him. However there was something about this boy. Something dark and menacing hung over him although Blaze couldn’t exactly put his finger on what exactly it was.
Louis didn’t notice him as he grew closer and closer to the two of them. He soon passed them by brushing up against the side of Blaze as he passed. Blaze noticed him staring over at him out of the corner of his eye. Their two eyes met as Blaze looked in his direction just as he passed the two of them.
Walking a few seconds longer Blaze finally came to a stop and turned in the direction of where the boy had headed only to notice that he was nowhere in sight. There was no way he could have made it to the other end of the hall that quickly and he knew that the boy couldn’t have just disappeared completely.
The black haired boy turned back in the direction he had been facing a second before only to see that Louis had come to a stop now as well. Louis was looking back towards him looking slightly concerned.
“Something wrong Blaze?” The bleach blond haired boy asked in a slightly concerned tone of voice.
Blaze started to walk again heading passed Louis and back down the hall towards their classroom. “It’s nothing.”
That boy had side stepped into a room not far from where Blaze and Louis had been walking. He wasn’t the only one in the room however as a red haired girl stood against the wall in the far corner of the room. That girl was none other then the very same girl who had met with Tiffany earlier that morning. In fact that was the very same room the two of them had met in at that time.
Even though Alice's eyes were closed she knew that they boy had entered into the room even without looking. “So you met him, how does it look?” She asked in a strong yet soft voice.
“Of course, just as promised.” The boy replied as a slight grin crossed his face. “Yet it’s hard to tell how strong he is mentally, I doubt that he’s any different from anyone we’ve broken before however.”
Alice pushed herself off and away from the wall as her eyes slowly opened reviling a sort of twinkle in her amber colored eyes. “Well then, I guess it’s my turn.” At that Alice started for the door, passing the brown haired boy by and leaving him there alone.
By that time Blaze and Louis had gone separate ways. Louis had gone on to meet Jasmine and Torque while Blaze headed straight for the classroom not taking any detours. However once Blaze reached the door to the classroom he found Sara standing nearby waiting for his arrival. As soon as she saw him coming down the hall she almost instantly began to run in his direction almost tripping over her own feet a few times in the process.
Blaze come to a stop when he finally saw her rushing in his direction. “Good morning Blaze.” She exclaimed with a smile on her face once she finally came to a stop right in front of Blaze.
“Yeah, morning...” Blaze responded in a cold almost lifeless tone of voice as he glanced down towards the girl and then back up, noticing another suspicious person near the end of the hall. A red haired girl who Blaze didn’t recognize nor had he ever seen her before. Yet there was something about the way she was staring straight at the two of them that got to Blaze. Something about the stare, almost as if it were piercing right through him and into his very soul. Blaze quickly brushed this aside shaking his head side to side only to look back down towards Sara to see a concerned look on her face had replaced the usual smile.
“Is everything alright, Blaze?”
Blaze nodded slowly as he glanced up once again only to see that the girl was gone just as the long brown haired boy had seemed to vanish earlier that morning. He began to wonder if it was possible he was imagining all this. Maybe he finally lost it and had given in to paranoia.
Meanwhile Louis had managed to meet up with both Jasmine and Torque near the opposite side of the school. Both Jasmine and Torque were in far more advanced classes then Blaze and Louis mainly due to the fact that the two of them started at Stone High near the middle of the year. Blaze probably wouldn’t have had it any other way, but Louis had wished that he wasn’t stuck in such basic classes.
At that time a familiar brown haired boy approached Jasmine, Torque, and Louis, who stood by a row of lockers. It was the same boy who Blaze had come across and who had met with Alice earlier. Jasmine noticed the boy coming almost instantly as she turned. Louis noticed that she seemed almost nervous by his appearance.
“Kurt?” Jasmine spoke up looking in his direction. She desperately tried to make eye contact with the quickly approaching boy yet he turned his head almost as if he could tell exactly where her line of sight would be, and when.
“It’s been awhile Jasmine.” The boy, Kurt, finally spoke up with a grin on his face. By this time Torque had also turned to face him, and Louis once again noticed almost fear in his eyes. He couldn’t put his finger on it however, what was it about this Kurt that they all seemed to be afraid of.
Louis took a step forward and leaned close enough to Torque in order to whisper directly into his ear without having the other boy hear. “Who is he?”
Torque turned around almost completely to face Louis, putting his back to Kurt. “His name is Kurt.” Torque spoke in a low voice so that only Louis would be able to hear him. “Most people consider him and his partner, Alice, to be real sadistic bastards. They’ll do anything to get their way and in no way do they play by the rules. You might even say they’re at completely different levels then me and Jasmine, everyone knows them and keeps their distance from them out of fear.”
While the two of them were having their own private conversation, Jasmine and Kurt had been having one of their own. However as much as Jasmine tried she couldn’t seem to get a good view of Kurt’s eyes.
“I heard something interesting Jasmine, you’ve befriended that monster kid. Am I right?” Kurt asked just as Louis and Torque tuned back into the conversation.
“You mean Blaze?” Louis soon spoke up, questioning Kurt as he took a step forward and passed both Torque and Jasmine to face Kurt on his own. Louis wasn’t afraid of him, he had absolutely no reason to fear someone he had just met and knew very little about. When comparing Kurt and Blaze he came to the conclusion that Blaze would be the one to come out on top of any fight no matter how supposedly evil the other was.
“You’re his friend, right? Louis wasn’t it?” Kurt spoke up a grin across his face as his eyes picked Louis over.
“How do you…” Louis started to speak but Jasmine didn’t allow him to finish as she took a step forward and to the side, stepping directly between Louis and Kurt.
“What do you want Kurt?” Jasmine questioned as Torque stepped forward now as well until he was standing alongside her with Louis still pushed back behind them.
“I just want to know if that Blaze kid is a friend of yours.”
Jasmine clenched both her fists and teeth together, partially out of fear and partially out of anger. She didn’t know what he was getting at or why he was pushing at this information but knowing the record she knew that it couldn’t be good by any means. “What’s it to you?” She snapped at him.
Kurt sighed and started to turn now. He had come not expecting any information but to screw with their heads. That’s what he did. Alice was usually the brains behind the operations he was the one who carried out her plans, and made sure that they had everyone around them shaking in their shoes.
“I guess it is true then.” Kurt replied in a soft voice as he started to walk back the way he had come in the first place. The three of them stood there unsure of what had happened as they watched the boy vanish down the hall once again.
“What exactly was that all about?” Torque was first to speak up and break the silence which had formed from the uneasiness in both Jasmine and Torque. However, Louis still seemed calm, almost unchanged as he didn’t understand what was so frightening about the boy.
Jasmine slowly shook her head looking away from the direction where the long haired boy had gone and back towards her two friends. “I don’t know, but I have a really bad feeling about it.”
