Illusionary Handrails

Illusionary Handrails

I don't need no dreams
I don't need no handrails
On these lively steps.
I don't need no ambition,
I don't need no stepping stones.

Like watching a movie
In three dimensions;
What seems real to us
As to reach out and touch us;
We reach our hand back but
The illusion shatters like
A soft and cloudy foam.

The handrails you hold are
Nothing but illusions;
Touch them and they'll shatter
Just like those reaching hands.

But
When you fall down and
Forget where to hold
It's nice to have a guide;
A stepping stone, a pathway;
An illusionary handrail;
I need a dream.
