Demon

Demon
By: Ashley R.

Demon I’ve given you all but somehow I’m somebody.
Demon I’ve picked up the eggshells and cleaned the mess and now I falter.
Demon what’s your reason for violence?

When I’m older I will marry a man who will help me return your kind favor.
No address of mine will actually be addressed to you.
No child of mine will you ever know.

Demon I don’t need what you don’t have.
Demon though your blood flows through my veins I can relate to your “acts” of kindness.
One day you will be set on fire while the sadists laugh at your hopelessness.

Demon you will no longer look me in the eyes and
mock my hopeless cries. My fists were clenched just for you Demon. Did we still look like our mother when you bruised and battered my sister and I while she slept with a knife by her side, weeping?

Demon I relate to your animosity about people trying to control us.
Demon there’s much more to me than what or whom you see but I became a product of your so-called “love”.

Demon you would rather place your blood, your children, in foster homes rather than swallowing your foolish pride and sending them to their sane, sober mother.
Demon you consider gifts as love rather than love itself.

Demon I will only go to church once a year, every Easter Sunday, but never every consecutive Sunday of my god damned life but I would rather go with my mother who chooses to do the same. The Hypocritical Movement.

Demon are you always right and never wrong? You can never be man because you chose to abuse your privileges, your loved ones and your own soul. Demon you remain a monster to everyone, even the same woman who birthed you.

Demon are you only favoring other children than your own just to sleep with the mother?
Demon you gave me memories, which I will reminisce and cherish when I grow older so that I can treat my children with love and not give them a reason to hit me.

Demon if felt angelic to leave you a red mark on your face after I struck you back. Oh the humility and hostility on your face! You should have stepped back for a moment. I absolutely love to question your sacred authority.

Demon you don’t have to thank me for my patience even though I know you wont.
Demon some day I will make sure that you subside. Thank you for the alternative.

Okay. This is my poem based off of the poem America. Forgot who the author was.

I know I'm not that good with poetry, or writing nontheless but I enjoy it sometimes. at least I can get my point across.

anyway, Demon, goodbye.

Hope you guys like it. ^^
