Chapter nine
“YOU ASS!” Rachel screamed. “You, you, you ruined everything!” Rachel collapsed on the ground shaking, “This is your fault. YOUR FAULT!”
“Heartbroken?”
“NO DUH! I WAS GOING TO MARRY MAC! WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE HAPPY!”
“Happy, happy! HE NEVER EVEN PROPOSED! DAMMIT! He’s an ass!”
“No, YOU’R THE ASS!” Rachel screamed. “DON’T TOUCH ME!” Rachel glared at him and ran upstairs. She could feel tears run down her cheeks. How humiliating, Rachel smirked as she locked herself in the bathroom. She was not coming out, even if she died, she would not come out of here. Never, never ever did she want to see Gus’s face again! She turned on the bathtub foset and gave up all of her strength. She cried.
That IDOT! Miriam thought as she cleaned the kitchen. It was not that she was not happy that they broke up, but this was wrong. Gus had been an ass Mac had been an ass, Rachel was a bitch for letting her sorry ass get caught! I am going to have to fix this, I suppose. She thought as she dusted a vase. But how was she supposed to do it? She could not reveal her identity to any of them, she was not going to be like Mac and blow his cover like a deranged fool. No she would be sly…she could distract Gus, distract him for just a few hours so Rachel and Mac could make things right…but then. This could be used to an advantage. Mac was Rachel’s weakness. If that weakness left her then maybe Rachel could become a better spy. Revenge was always a wonderful motivator.
No, that was wrong killing Mac was completely out of the question. She needed to take this step by step, the first step was to get Rachel out of the bathroom.
“Where’s the liquor!” Miriam called in a chipper demanding voice.
“Liquor?” Gus questioned.
“Yes, I will bring it up to the madam. When you are upset a drink or ten always helps me.”
“Oh, I see, um it is in the pantry. I only have wine though…”
“That’s ok!” Grabbing two bottles of wine and a bottle opener she rushed upstairs calling, “Mrs. Rachel! Mrs. Rachel, are you in the bath?”
“LEAVE ME ALONE MAID!”” Rachel screamed.
“Darling, I have wine, shall we drink!”
“LEAVE.”
“No let’s drink! It will be loads of fun, I promise.”
“I don’t want to!” Rachel screamed.
Crying huh? “Fine,” With a swift movement Miriam knocked down the door with a loud smash. “Oppsies,” She giggled. “I brought the liquor.”
Rachel looked up her face stained with tears. “Give me the wine.”
“Of course!” Miriam giggled, “Here you go!”
Rachel said nothing as she tipped the bottle up and gulped down the wine like a half starved man. “That tastes good,” Rachel laughed. “That stupid Mac, I cant believe him, being such an ass.”
“Men are like that dear,” Miriam smiled, “they are stupid.”
“Perverted dogs,” Miriam chimed.
“Yes, exactly, um, what’s your name?”
“Mayme dear.”
“Well bring me another bottle.”
“Of course ma’am,” she smiled as she went downstairs shouting, “Sir! Rachel’s drunk now so leave her alone.”
“Of course,” Gus smiled.
Rachel drunk, Gus smiled. That’s a good idea. I could take her out drinking tonight. We could stay in a hotel, yes this may be very fun. “Mayme, dear, what do you say that we take Rachel out drinking?”
“That sounds splendid! You are running low on liquor anyways.”
“Then let’s leave now.”
“Yes Sir. I will go and fetch her now.”
“Gus, are you sure that is wise?” Andrewfer asked.
“Yes, what’s wrong with having a little fun any ways?”
Andrewfer shook his head as he leaned back into the couch, “I will come as well.”
Gus snickered. He wondered how drunk she would get, he wondered if she would sleep with him. No probably not, Gus thought. She was much too headstrong. But anything can happen when you shove a few glasses of whisky down a girl’s throat.
