I was given the assignment in my Experimental Illustration class to create a life-sized figure out of tape. I figured that if I had to make a guy out of tape, I'd make the most awesome guy ever. Thus: Duct Tape Batman.
DTB was created using fifteen 66-yard rolls of gray duct tape, half of a smaller roll of yellow duct tape, and a little bit of masking tape for his chin. Additionally, he's composed, in places, of two rocks, some black foamcore board, a couple aluminum cans, a few of the empty cardboard rolls from the tape, and about five dowel rods. He took about forty-five hours of construction, totally solo. Due to some technical problems (the result of not having any assistant to help hold things in place while I taped) DTB is not life-sized, but ended up being slightly shorter than I am. He's free-standing, and pretty heavy.
