A Thrush And A Sparrow

A thrush and a sparrow

A thrush and a sparrow
Had a death quite harrow
when a hunter one day
In the dark lay.

The hunter leapt with a shout
Whipped his gun out
Killed both with one shot
And caught them, gun hot.

He had them for dinner,
He dined well this sinner,
With rich red wine
And ladies fine.

He ravished all,
With appetite to appal,
Until all were emptied,
to cost he paid no heed.

He'd had enough, so instead
of staying, he went to bed,
And awoke the next morning
To the sound of mourning.

The hunter saw no-one,
Yet heard 'You brazen one.'
'Who are you? The wind?' he asked,
Chuckling, when the wind confirmed

'You ate my children! You impudent fly!
A curse on you!' was the outraged reply,
The hunter turned and snorted,
But then his face contorted.

And his head burst into flame,
The hunter cried 'For shame!'
And look! For without a head,
The evil hunter was now very dead.
