Blips on the Radar

Alyosha sat in front of his monitor, fighting to stay awake. Having to sit in one spot for 12 hours was not what he had in mind when he signed up with the military. Tearing his eyes away from his monitor for a few seconds, Alyosha glanced at Borya, his comrade, sitting at the monitor next to his. Borya's head would slowly droop to the right, following the mesmerizing line circling the screen. Catching Alyosha staring at him out of the corner of his eye, Borya spasmed and inhaled some of his spittle. Alyosha snapped his attention back to his monitor and Borya attempted to muffle his choking while the Captain glared at them from his plush chair in the center of the room. There was still nothing on Alyosha's monitor. Borya managed his cough and went back to staring at the mesmerizing line on the screen. Alyosha stretched his arms down in front of him, so the Captain wouldn't notice and stifled a yawn. Upon opening his eyes, two objects flashed on his screen directly next to their location.
"Дерьмо! Капитан!*" Alyosha jumped out of his seat, nearly knocking it over. (Well, he would have if it wasn't bolted to the floor.)
The Captain didn't have time to react, as the two objects disappeared, and so did the base.

*"Shit! Captain!"

I have been meaning to take some time to practice with Apophysis more. Tonight, I took about half an hour to do some playing around and rendered this piece. I am quite pleased with how this came out, even though it wasn't what I was hoping to accomplish, especially since I can't remember what I was going to try to make. Emjoy the bonus story!
