Chapter six: The Fallen Princess

The following day, at school.......

"Hey Ze," says Malon, "what's up with you? You just seem so gloomy today." "It's nothing." says Zelda, "I'm fine." "Ze," says Malon, "we've been friends since childhood. And I know when something is bothering you. Just talk to me." "Malon," says Zelda, "It's...... I'm..... I'm just so confused. All these feeling, and I can't figure out what I actualy feel about him." "You mean Link?" says Malon. "Yeah." says Zelda, "He told me what happened to his Zelda. He still loves her, but......" "I see what's going on here." says Malon, "You want him to love you, but he is in love with another." "No," says Zelda, "it's not like that. He said I look like her. But, I'm not her. I'm not his princess! What if he sees her in me. What if I'm just a....." "That's deep Ze." says Malon, "Even for you. You want him to see you as you, not as something you're not. But, honestly, how much do we know of the princess?" "I know a lot more than I wanted." says Ze, "She died in his arms, and it was Ganon who killed her."

"Ganon killed her?!?!?" says Malon, "No way, it can't be!" "Link told me himself." says Zelda, "And that is the cause of everything that's happened. He is still fighting to avenge her." A tear rolls down Zelda's cheak. "Why am I crying? And why dose this story almost seem like a long lost memory to me?" "Ze...." says Malon. "Just..." says Zelda, "Just leave me alone." "Ze," says Miss Navis, "are you alright?" "Miss... Miss Navis!" says Zelda as she puts on a brave face for her teacher. "Uh... I'm fine. Never better." "Ze." says Miss Navis, "I wish to talk to you after class."

Later that day, after school.......

Ze sits in her desk as Miss Navis walks into the room. "Zelda." says Miss Navis, "I know what's going on." "What do you mean?" says Zelda, "And it's Ze, not........" "Like it or not," says Miss Navis, "that is your name. And it suits you well fallen princess." "Miss Navis," says Zelda, "what did you just call me?" "Zelda," says Miss Navis, "it is about time I tell you everything. You see, Navis in not my real name. I have been around this world for many centuries now. Can you guess who I am now?" Zelda looks at Miss Navis. Before her eyes, wings appear on Miss Navis' back. "You're...." says Zelda, "You're Navi!" "Yes." says Miss Navis, "There was a time when I went by that name. You see, when I returned to Hyrule, I found that Link had already left to look for me. So, I started to look for him. It was many years before I found a hint of his whereabouts. And by the time I got to where he was, it was too late. He fell for Ganon's trap, and the princess was dead. The sages knew what they had to do. They created the Trinity Light to continue on in their absence, and worked on freeing Link from his curse. But even if they did, he was only half of what he once was."

"You mean the princess." says Zelda, "So she was not as helpless as I thought." "You should know." says Miss Navis, "You're her." Zelda could not believe what she just heard. "What....." says Zelda, "What did you just say?!?!?" "It is true that one who is killed by the Arrow of Darkness will have their soul sent into a nexus, never to return. But, the Arrow of Light can prevent that. She was holding onto it when she was hit. Thus, keeping her soul in check. She drifted for many years, until one day, she was reincarnated as a young girl who wishes to be called Ze rather than her real name. And you are exacty like her. Almost nothing in your personality has changed. You are Princess Zelda, reborn."

"No," says Zelda, "it can't be! I'm not her!" "Zelda," says Miss Navis, "I didn't want to tell you until you were truly ready. But, with your emotions being in the state that they are, I had no choice. You are still you, nothing has changed. It's not like you have to become this, or it will replace who you are. You are still Ze, and you always will be. Honestly, I didn't think you would have fallen for Link all over again."

Zelda was confused. She didn't want believe what she was being told. She hoped it was just a joke, or a dream. But, in her mind, she knew. She knew it was all true. "Ganon," says Zelda, "do you think he knows about me?" "Not likely." says Miss Navis, "Just like Link, he too thinks you're gone for good. And, we must not tell anyone that you are the princess. Not even Link." "But, shouldn't we at least...." says Zelda. "Zelda," says Miss Navis, "it's too dangerous. As soon as he knows, Ganon will know. Now, hold out your hand." Zelda dose so. Miss Navis pulls out a box from her desk. "I've been keeping this for you for a long time. And it's about time I give it back to you." She opens the box, and a bright light fills the room. When the light fades, Zelda looks at the back of her hand. Right there, was the symbol of the Triforce of Wisdom. "The Triforce of Wisdom is yours once again Zelda. Keep it secret, keep it safe." "I will Navi." says Zelda.

Meanwhile, in Ganontech Labs.......

"I can feel it." says Ganon, "The Triforce of Wisdom has been passed to another. I should have taken it when I had the chance. It seems I have another worry too. Link had help. I know it. As soon as I find out who, I will make sure that I end them." He walks over to a sealed chamber. Inside are the remaind of some unknown creature. "That ship that crashed here years ago has given me quite a few advances in my technology. But, even better, it gave me new servants to command. And I think it is about time to bring this one back from the beyond." He starts to cast a spell into the chamber. "Come forth my fallen servant. Be flesh and blood once again. Live once more, and bring destruction to my enemies. Rise again Ridley!" The creature's eye open, and it starts to regenerate. "Soon Link," says Ganon, "you will meet your demise!"

At that time...........

Link was walking home from school. His mind was racing over what was going on with Zelda that day. "Ze," he says to himself, "why is it I feel for you the same way I felt for her? She ment so much to me. Am I trying to replace her with you? Or are these feeling truly for you? Zelda......... Ze...... So alike in every way. So, who am I in love with here?"
