Charon awoke, slowly and wearily, and discovered that a pair of dull black eyes was staring back at him. The fish seemed to scowl at the human intruder, and to itself it said, 'There goes the neighborhood.'

Yeah, I do the 100 themes challenge…out of order. Charon was a brilliant young philosophy student in ancient Grecian times. Unfortunately, his inflated ego, a motor mouth, and the desire to show up everyone else did /not/ make him very popular. He was so disliked, in fact, that a group of other students attacked him one day after ‘class‘. Charon fell unconscious during the fight, and the students believed they had killed him. Guilt ridden and frightened, the group tied Charon up, weighed him down with rocks, and tossed him into a river to hide the body. Of course, Charon wasn’t really dead, and ended up waking to find himself in an interesting situation.

Yes, he is based on the mythological character Charon. But he's still (C) Me. ^^
