Starbeams
Starbeams
Stars being born in the soothing dark night,
Our figures illuminated and clad in newbirthed light.
To anyone looking in from outside,
no one who knew of our struggles and pride,
It would seem to be only a lucid dream...
But as they say, things are not always as they seem.
The physical bodies may remain here on the ground,
But our spirits cascade upwards without a sound.
It may not seem right, this fated reunion of two,
And I can't find the words to define me and you.
Like a cell phone screen holding words texted so clear,
The message is there...just, not here.
Overtaking wind and clouds, climbing to crescent-moon height,
You hold me here as we ghost upwards, like birds in flight.
A sleepless child might look up, along the trail we left,
Think it was a blessing, a godly gift.
Ribbons cast across black heavens, paths paved by us alone,
A song meant for only us to know, a celestial, embracing home.
Changing shape, reflecting who we are inside,
We were able to leave behind selfishness, struggle, pride.
We bounded past the Orb of Fire, the Eye of Windy Storms,
the quiet Sphere of Winter, and the place where stars were born.
Finally, we moved on to Venus, untouched land of passion,
Felt our hearts twine together in a powerful fashion.
And, can you tell me yes or no? Me the fox and you the wolf,
Did we howl to the universe to awaken what we could?
Did our music echo through the world until I awoke in bed...
Did my love take us past the stars...or was it all in my head?
