Ha! I finally get around to submitting this! I started it in July or August 2007, and I finished it in October for my mum's birthday- her favorite color is purple. Sadly, I don't think she much cared for this, which really dampened my spirit since I put a lot of time into it!
It started as a purple ballpoint pen scribble, and then I wanted to add texture, and then more detail, and then more detail, and then layers and layers of color-which were very washed out in the scan and poorly repaired on the computer. :\ Still, this is one of my favorites, though I think there should be more scales and less bare skin on the face. Oh well. Done is done. I am content enough with it and I don't want to mess it up by fiddling with it too much. The background had too many layers of greys and blacks, and wouldn't smudge any smoother, but I kinda like it that way.
I really need to start using better paper, since this was done on normal, thin computer paper and got wrinkled and splashed with some muddy water when I was camping with my family and dogs, who insisted that they do their share in my artwork by climbing out of the lake and shaking themselves near where I was drawing. Not that you can tell.... but whatever.

line art- at least 4 and a half hours, all in one sitting
coloring- around 13,maybe even more, not all in one sitting

giascle Says:

Awesome job. :U
I like how the pebbles are reflecting yellow light as opposed to just more purple.

WhiteFoxDK Says:

It's funny how this type of scaling is the most detailed looking, yet is also the easiest to do. Great job, and same with giascle, the contrast in the shading and highlights brings out the purple really nicely.

Leodhas Says:

Amazing. Those scales are sheer perfection.

This is BEAUTIFUL.
Props for having the patience to do all those little bitty scales.
It was definitely worth the time it took.
