Cable & Deadpool, the last Marvel comic I actually enjoyed reading, has come to a close at issue #50. For three years it was a brilliantly written run, thanks to the dry wit and sarcasm supplied by Fabian Nicieza. Reilly Brown provided the pencils for this final issue, and helped out with the script; it was a super-sized send-off that had me laughing and crying. It's hard to summarize... Deadpool is a character that works on several different levels, and the series has seen him go through a great deal of character development. It's primarily a humor and action comic that never seems to take itself too seriously (indeed, how can it with Deadpool being acutely aware of the fourth-wall... or merely believing himself to be aware of the fourth wall, what with his healing-factor aided psychosis that results in a brain that's constantly in fluctuation), however there have been real tear-jerking moments as well, because Mr. Nicieza is able to make you actually CARE about these super-powered loons running around in colorful spandex. The fact that two characters that initially started out as embodying some of the worst of the 90s comics GRIM/DARK characteristics have managed to evolve into characters with a very real amount of depth is a credit to series. It's really too bad the Wolverine: Origins group can't seem to get a grasp on the complex humor Nicieza gave Deadpool in particular, as they seem do default to "LOL RANDUM".

Ah, Deadpool, that craziest superhero I've ever read about. Really well done. And a random quote too! Nice touch.
