The crowd hushed as the small girl stepped forward. Her hair was a deep brown, kept down even though it appeared that it was supposed to be done otherwise. She was dressed simply, to the surprise of the onlookers. Some whispered that a mistake had been made. This girl obviously didn't respect her duty. Others whispered harsher things, looking pleased to simply say something ill against the girl descending down the staircase.
And even then, the gossipers silenced quickly as the girl approached the podium, too short to gaze throughout the crowd. One of the attendants smiled, giving the girl a small stepping stool to help her. The child giggled, stepping upwards to see the crowd. She then smiled. "Hello!" she said as cheerfully and loudly as she could. "My name is--"
A balding, clean cut man dressed in a stuffy uniform interrupted her, swiftly moving the girl out of the way and facing the crowd. "This child shall be the new Keeper of the Elemental Crystals and Balancer of Serin. The Crystals themselves have responded well to her magic." he announced in a dull, monotonous voice, "She shall move into the Tower of Spirals at once, along with her Guardians. They have been chosen by the Sisters of Fate themselves, and will do everything in their power to protect her. In addition..." he continued to drone on about peace and tranquility, responsiblity, and other such ilk. Even the new Keeper found herself nodding off.
To make sure she didn't fall asleep, she crept away, seeing three people stationed off to the side. She wasn't sure why, but they seemed to call to her. She stood, entranced for a moment, marvelling each of them. While the Pixie woman caught her attention first and the Human looked entertaining, she was transfixed on the Angel. She thought he was absolutely beautiful, if it was even possible for a man to be so. Shyly, she stepped towards the three, ignoring the surprised looks she was getting from the crowd.
"Lady Keeper, perhaps you should not--" one of the nobles whispered.
The girl ignored the insistent tone and stood in front of the three, curtsying to them. "Hello! My name is Reili." she smiled softly. "It's very nice to meet you."

I love the style done in Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni. I also love Reili, because she's a bucket of cute. DotE is something I also adore. And while DotE and Elementals aren't anime in the least, I love making mock screencaps of things. It's a guilty pleasure of mine.
Whoo! Sparkly shoujo backgound! The lines are pixelly because I did it in MSPaint. I love the pentool, but I'm also lazy. So, cell shading + colored lines. Whee.
Also, Windsong's characters are briefly mentioned near the end. Sorry Windy! I can change it if you'd like.
