This was the basic outline for my piece for the music club metal contest that happened on sheezy summer last year. Basically I had began planning out the track and was going to finish planning it then record it. Then I just didn't really have the time to sort it and then forgot about it after the contest. I found it again and decided I may as well submit it because I probably won't finish it.
My intention was to have a eerie atmosphere to begin with(I was planning to add other things beyond the clean guitar) and to have a spoken word part over the top. I think it was something to do with the greatest horrors exist in our minds rather than physically. Then that was going to end with a huge death grunt/scream and then kick straight into the song complete with growled vocals.
I think my general thinking behind it was Opeth at the time, because they mostly play in standard tuning and are quite heavy. This was my attempt at proving you don't have to tune down beyond E to be heavy. My main way of getting this heavy feeling was using dissonance. Towards the end it repeats a lot because there was going to be a solo/lead part over the top but I never got round to putting it in.
I honestly don't think its too bad for a short bit of work. Maybe one day I will finish it and actually record it...
