Casey! Calvert, R.I.P.

I drew Casey Calvert of Hawthorne Heights, their guitarist and screamist. He passed away from accidental drug overdose in November last year, as you might have heard. I wanted to draw him in honor of his memory, so I tried really hard on this to make it as perfect as possible. It was a difficult picture to draw, with the pose and his expression. And I made myself include all the details. I usually skip out on little things, but not this time. ;] I even did all of the wrinkles on the clothes and the design on the shirt. That's dedication. And do you know how hard tattoos are to draw?

I would really appreciate feedback on this. I spent a good two hours on it. It's obviously not perfect, but I tried. And you know how hard that pose was?? I was gonna do a portrait but I liked this pic. The right proportions were hard to get but I kept working at it. Here's the ref: link. The face didn't come out so well. o.o;

It's really sad what happened to Casey. He passed away on, like, the second day of a tour. To be honest, I didn't know the members of Hawthorne Heights (I did like the band though) before his death, but a life is a life. A loss at that young of an age is still horrible. And he left behind a wife (and I think she might be pregnant, I'm not sure). There was an interview with her about his death and it was sooooo frickin depressing.

Someone on youtube had the nerve to comment on a HH video with "you know what's funny about this band? their guitarist is dead."

Why are people like that alive when people like Casey and other good, decent people die?
It's not fair.

And, on behalf of the band, Casey was not using illegal drugs that caused his death. ahemahemMATTHEWcoughcough. On their site they specifically said that they didn't want Casey's memory tainted by rumors or rock band stereotypes of drug abuse. COUGHCOUGHMATTHEWCOUGHCOUGH. Be respectful, please.
