The third major exercise is a dive into the arena of
paralax motion. Paralax motion, essentially, is when different pieces of a background scroll across the screen at different rates to create the illusion of distance while one or more characters in a walk / run cycle occupy virtually motionless positions on the "stage". This one had been a bit delayed because (A) I got horribly sick during the Super Bowl and I'm only just now recovering, and (B) backgrounds are
EVIL!
Ninja Nerd swears revenge for being put on this hamster wheel!
(And yes, I know that everything's single-shaded and the trees look like blobs of green crap. Instead of the trees, look at the stunning Japanese architecture in the background... which I traced off an image I found on Google.
STFU, ok?)

The arm movement looks weird, it's like he's punching the air with his left hand. :/

I have to say, in this series of posts you've done of class work, Ninjanerd has totally grown on me.

Otherwise, I dig this. I won't be insanely harsh since, well you're my friend one, and two this is your first time animating something like this to the best of my knowledge--but the walk motion as pointed out by FlameSteve above me is a little wonky. Not the worst that I've seen, mind you, but a little bit of fixing can't hurt. My biggest concern, however, is that compared to his walking speed, the building in the background seems to go by EXTREMELY fast. Seems more partial to that of a jog or a run--or...um...super ninja speed walking as the case may be.
But aside from those, tis pretty kew. >3 Keep up the goodness. *thumbs up*
