For they lay torn into shreds

Gone are the times of merriment, fun and good days
For they have been snatched like a grape from a vine

Now begins the time of hard work and toil
For lost are we in the world’s long black coil

Gone are the days of innocence,
For they lay shattered on the ground

Lost are innocence, honesty and trust
For in their place come envy, treachery and lust

No longer do we sing the song of cheerfulness and joy
We sing a sad lament now that the time of innocence is done

Gone are the days of innocence,
Lost to the winds of time forevermore.
