Note: Ignore the slight slant of everything to the left. I took several pictures of this, but this was the straightest version.

First in class assignment for Painting II: choosing a color palette and using those colors only (mix of value is fine) to create the still life. I chose my colors from the outfit I was wearing that day - the green and blue from the shirt, the tan from the tank top and the red from the shoes.

Overall, I feel it worked out really well. I really am loosening up, just a little.

Traditional Still Life - PII by MEiken is a vibrant, richly-textured study in color - you wouldn't believe she only started with four colors. MEiken's style blends heavy outlines with intense shadows for a dramatic and interesting effect.

One of my favorite parts of this painting is the glass bottle on the left - the colors are blended seamlessly and do a fine job of creating the illusion of glass (although the toaster is pretty cool, too).
