Not done yet apparently, but something I've been working on and practicing taking advantage of layers, though I wish I could just color it than poof some perfect lines cause I'm extremely lazy. Now my coloring technique is really easy.
-First off I cut the image out of the original piece so that it's on it's own layer, that also clears up the background of any dirty spots.
-Second to color in a section I either use the magic wand or the magnetic lasso. The magic wand though will outline anything in the selected area no matter how light it is, so that can be kind of annoying, but especially for the face I needed it to outline the mouth and noses. To fill in all the places it missed I used quick mask mode, I always choose the obnoxious neon green because if the color is to close to any color used in the picture it won't work, but what it will do is show you what is selected and what isn't with this neon green color, from there you can color in more or erase it without messing up the original picture and also get the perfect selection.
-Than I return to the normal mode where I simply paint in the selected area with whatever color I wanted for that spot.
-For highlights I than use the dodge tool, which is an awesome tool and creates pretty and realistic(kinda) highlights.
-For shadows I used the burn tool, which I found out last night that when you want blond hair to go with a more orangy yellow else it will darken it with green and it's not to pretty.
Problem is with the burn and dodge tool is that you can't use them on black or white.
-The eyes where probably the easiest, I made a selection of them, got myself my paint brush and made a black dot first, than for the iris just barely inside of the black dot I made another dot(obviously smaller than the first dot), than I made a third and much smaller black dot for the pupil. Than I took a darker shade of whatever the color of the eye was and made some lil lines inside the iris, than took white and used that for the highlights. I still needed to create shadow around the lids, which since it was white I couldn't do, so I simply took a gray color and reduced the hardness of my brush to zero and did a manual shadowing job.
Yes I realize the sob is huge, but I'm too lazy to shrink it, I will when it's done.
