For some reason it reminds me of a certain style used in french, morbid children's fiction. Maybe my mind is tricking me, but that's what I associate it with.
That teal really makes everything come together. For some reason, that is just the right shade and you put it in all the right places so my eye is just centered on the picture at hand. Awesomeness.
