are you watching now?
can you see me
my arms spread with invisible
wings
fingers trembling in the icy punches
as I tower over fields of dead grass
and sloshes of melted snow.
Do you see me now?
Are you watching?
So terrified
So curious
So enthralled
to watch a human pretend to
fly
I close my eyes
and bite the cold
and tip forward until
the ground falls
the sky shatters
and all becomes swept into the wind
that rushes by me.
Then nothing at all.
