Chapter three: The Trinity Lights

"Wait a second...." says Ze, "Dad, how did you..." Ze's dad looks at her for a moment. "I guess it's about time I told you something." he says, "You see, I am part of a secret orginization called The Trinity Lights. We have existed for thousands of years as the last line should Ganon, the ruler of the darkness, should return to Hyrule." "But I killed......" Link starts to say. Then, here remembers the last thing Ganon said to him.


"You have played right into my hand, boy. With my life blood, I finish my curse on you. Even though I am dying, I shall return centruies from now. You on the other hand shall be cast into the abyss of time. By the time you return, this world shall be mine. And there will be nothing you can do to stop me!"


"The sage said to me 'You destroyed his body, but his soul has returned to Hyrule'." says Link, "And Ganon even said that he would return. I cannot beleve how soon I forgoten that. And I cannot believe how foolish I was to fall into his trap!" "Calm down Link." says Ze's father, "What matters now is you are here before Ganon has a chance to take Hyrule. We of The Trinity Lights knew that you would return. And as a member, my house is yours to stay at for as long as you need." "I thank you." says Link, "But as it stands, I know nothing about this time I am in. Things are so.... different than before." "Do not worry." says Ze's father, "We of The Trinity Light can help you adjust to your new surroundings."

Later that night......

Ze lies in bed, her head spinning over what happened. "So that boy is the Hero of Time." Ze says to herself, "All this time, I thought it to be nothing but a story for little children. And my dad... He knew about all of this. Why didn't he tell me any of these things?" She starts to look at the door to her room. Link is sleeping in the room across from her. "Link is kind of cute...." Ze thinks to herself, "Wait a second, what am I thinking! I'm not attracted to him.... am I....." Her mind races for a moment. "Of course not!"

In the other room, Link has things on his mind as well. "Zelda....." Links says to himself, "I will avenge you. I will make Ganon pay for what he did to you." He looks at the door of the room he is in. "That girl Ze...." he thinks to himself, "She looks so much like..... No, it can't be...."

The next day........

Ze makes her way to school. Following her is Link, dressed in a standard school uniform. "Ok," says Ze, "I know this is a little weird for you, but as it stands you have to go to school with me. The Trinity Lights have made the nessasary arangements for you. And since I'm the only one in the school who knows your secret, we'll be sharing the same classes." "Ze?" says Link. "What is it now?" says Ze, "Listen, the uniform is required. Don't make such a fuss about it." "It's not that." says Link, "Wasn't your friend with you yesterday as well?"

At that moment, Ze remembers her friend Malon. She also knew about Link. Ze only hoped that she could talk to Malon before school started. Or else things could get out of hand. But, as she enters the schoolyard, there Malon was, waiting for her.

"I see you brought Link with you." says Malon, "So, how did your dad take it?" "A lot better than I though." says Ze, "Malon, listen to me, do not tell anyone, and I mean ANYONE, that this guy is....." "Ze," says Malon, "come on. Who would believe us anyway? Besides, he's kind of like a super hero. And after all, super heroes need to keep a secret identity, right?" "Right." says Ze, "At least that's a weight off my sholders. Can I trust you to help me?" "Help you with what?" says Malon. "To keep Link out of trouble." says Ze, "My dad arranged it so that he goes to school with us." "Really?!?!?" says Malon, "Wow! That's so cool!"

"What's so cool?" says Sara as she walks up to Ze and the others. "Oh.... nothing!" says Ze, "Nothing really Sara." Sara looks at Link. "So Ze," says Sara, "who's this guy? Your boyfriend or something?" "Boyfriend?!?!?" says Ze, her face turning red. "No! It's not like that! You see, he's a.... foreign exchange student that will be living with my dad and me for a while." "Well then," says Sara, "you two play nice. And by the way, what's his name?" "The name's Link." says Link, "It's nice to meet you."

"Link?" says Sara, "You mean like The Hero of Time of legend? Cool! It's so awesome that you have the same name as the legenadry hero. I'll see you guys in homeroom later. Bye." And with that, Sara leaves. "Foreign exchange student?" Malon whispers into Ze's ear. "Well that's the story my dad came up with." says Ze, "So long as everyone else thinks that, we shouldn't have any problems."

Just then, a woman with blue hair walks up to Ze. "And what are you three doing out here?" she asks, "Homeroom starts in five minutes." "Oh," says Ze, "good morning Miss Navis." "Good morning Zelda," says Miss Navis, "Malon, and I assume that this young man here is our new student." "Miss Navis!" says Ze, "Please don't call me by my first name! It's so embarasing....." Just then, the school bell rings. "And there's the bell." says Miss Navis, "Last call. Let's get going now." And with that, they make their way into the school. As Link enters the door into the school, his mind has one though.

"So... Her name is Zelda as well. But, it still can't be. Ganon killed her."

Later that day........

Ze and Link are in the lunch room. Link feels out of place. This "school" is a new thing for him. If not for Ze, he wouldn't have known what to do. "Zelda?" asks Link, "Can I ask you a question?" "Link," says Ze, "don't call me 'Zelda'." "That's just it." says Link, "Why do you not like your name?" Ze sits there silently for a moment. "It's..." says Ze, "It's not nessasary. I don't really like to talk about it." "I must know." says Link, "I knew Zelda. The original Zelda. Why do you reject her name?" "That's just it." says Ze, "The princess, she was so weak. You always had to rescue her from Ganon. I don't want to be seen as some helpless tart that can't even defend herself."

"That's not true." says Link, "Zelda was not some helpless damsel that needed me to rescue her. To tell the truth, there was even a time or two when she even saved me. If not for her, I would have never been able to......." Link becomes silent for a moment. "I'm sorry." Link starts to say. "It wasn't my buisness to pry into your reasons." "What's with the sudden change in your attitude?" says Ze. "Ganon..." says Link, "I was unable to.... No, I'll tell you another time. It's.... not a story I would like to tell. You just..... remind me so much of her Ze."

"Really?" says Ze, "Well, if it will make you feel better, you can call me Zelda if you want. But not in front of my friends, ok?"

Meanwhile........

"What is it now?" says a shadow cloaked figure from behind his desk. "This better be good." "Sir." says a creature from the doorway. "Five of our best Ganontech security officers are ready to moblize on your command. Just give us the word Ganon." "Do the board of directors know of this?" says Ganon, "Even with my position as CEO of this company, I don't want to draw any attention to this operation." "We already 'took care' of them sir." says the creature, "As per your request." "About dammed time." says Ganon, "They were digging too deep into what I was doing. Mobilize the security officers. I want them to hunt down Link, and be sure to bring me his Master Sword as proof that he has been delt with." "As you wish Ganon." says the creature.
