Yesterday
Yesterday, I awoke.
Normally I would find myself staring back at the black circles of my
eyes and my bedraggled image in the mirror to the left of my bed.
But Yesterday was different--
I awoke to the sun streaming onto my body in unknown shapes and shadows.
The warmth was unbearable on my clothed body.
When I found the strength to open my eyes,
I was confused.
My confusion faded and left shock in its place.
The first image that burned into my skull was the beauty of the sun
rushing through the little details that were the branches and the
leaves of the massive blue oak.
A smile rose on my lips as thoughts of my childhood played across my
eyes as a movie would play in the theater.

I was in a meadow,
The contrast of blues, yellows and pinks vibrant against the ever
moving green grasses.
I laid there for hours, seconds and days.
I was the stream running through the forest in Autumn.
Carrying oranges and yellows along with my advancing body.
Collapsing onto algae covered rocks and moving around stationary
objects as the air around me cooled.
I awoke.
I awoke to the reflection of a beautiful rosy-cheeked woman thrilled
to be alive.
