Background is NOT a photo...heres a closeup at 50% http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v689/myenia/cluseup.jpg
I made this to be a background for my computer.
The background is referenced from a photo my mother took. Thank you God for controlled scribble. The image is shown at 11%...the original is...way to big to comprehend. This had to take well over 50 hours, I've been doing it on and off for 2 months. I still really don't like how flat the rocks in the foreground look, but I've already decided I'm done with this. Other than that, I'm REALLY happy with it!
Feel free to use it as your wallpaper too...but please don't do anything I wouldn't be ok with because this has got to be my most difficult and involved work so far. Thanks!

I saw the WIP on your Live Journal. This is so beautiful, the mountains look so real. I really love the way you paint fur, so realistic, yet majestic at the same time. What can I say, I love digital realism.

That's amazing! I especially love the background (like everyone else that's seen this one). Seriously, I'd be profoundly impressed if you had just submitted that landscape alone. In fact I'd have been fairly impressed if indeed it was a photo to be honest. The fact that it has a wolf in the foreground is an added bonus, and is very niceley drawn too. The musculature is beautifully and accurately defined and the face is full of character and life, especially the eyes. The overall portrayal of the wolf is wonderful too, as in my opinion they don't need all the feathers and adornments, symbols and legends, they need only to be seen as what they are, and as an integral part of the wilderness you have created so well. My only criticism might be that there appears to be a slight jump between styles for the subject and background though, which causes the eye to perhaps be drawn away from the wolf. Finally I don't think there's much you could do about the flatness of the rock, I think that's due almost entirely to the perspective more than anything so it's as accurate a rendition of it as is possible. But hey, if this was my life's work, I could die happy.

The background is beatiful! I just wish the wolf looked just as realistic as the background, though. Somehow it just doesn't, I can't place my finger on it why. A wonderful peice overall.
