Just a few screencaps I took while coloring the Otter character in my Almost There! Picture. Now, basically All ive done here, Is use the brush that I've made and paint the entire thing. I rarely use filters or anything. Anyways...
In Painter 7, I use the smeary round brush, and have the Resaturation set the pressure. This allows it to pull colors as you stroke, sorta like a real paintbrush, and you can blend them nicely. You have to know how to do it with your hand though. Everyone strokes differently.
I usually go back and change things, so if something looks different that it originally did, thats just me going back and adding or taking away what I don't like. I do this randomly all the time, the way I do things isnt set in stone.
Yes, the character is covered completely on one layer.
When I am finished coloring, sometimes I go on Photoshop and raise contrast/levels or use color change, so that all of the colors become a little more unified or stand out more.
