Poem on Animal Abuse

“They have no feelings,
They have no souls,”
That is what we are always told.

“They have no rights,
They have no say,
That is why we act this way.”

“They are our pets,
They are our friends,
But that is where the story ends.”

“They are not our equals,
They cannot understand,”
But they see much cruelty from man.

“We have the power,
We can tease and taunt,
We can do whatever we want.”

“They did no wrong,
They were just there,
But we are superior, why should we care?”

“Let’s make them suffer,
Let’s give them pain,
Let’s make them die because no one came.”

No one cares,
Even though they know,
They just stand aside and watch the show.

And all they show
From where they lie
Is sadness not anger as they die.

And as the breathe
Their last they show
Their love that we will never know.
