This is the first draft of Maddi's new design. I wanted her to seem less brooding and more innocent. I like the shorter hair a lot, actually, which is strange for me because I usually hate short hair. Here's the idea:
Maddi keeps her top layer (the longest layer) of hair tied up in two little buns on each side of her head. She puts cute little flower scrunchies, bows, bells, whatever (but no stuffed rabbits) around those buns and wears the rest of her hair down. This leaves room for earrings and shows off her neck a little more.
My aim was to make her cute enough that she could definitely pull off a pink hairdo...without having to be a mean, angry character. I really hate how the only pink-haired girls I can find are mean. That needs to change. Pink is not always a color of immaturity! Pink is everywhere, especially on the most delicate and beautiful things found in nature--flowers. Remember the sakura blossom. When the petals fall, they are still gentle; not angry and ready to destroy the world like so many pink-haired people are.
o.o
Anyway, I hope you like this new design better than the old. I do.
