Argh. Didn't know what to call this picture.
Anyhoo, this pic is so big in real life that I had to scan it twice, from two different angles, and splice together the sides. That's why there is a line of blur going through the picture on the left side. Poo.
The fact this pic is so large and my scanner bed so small has caused many details to be lost. The guy's fin, for example, extends far below the edge of this pic, and there are shells and a little crab at the bottom margins in the original, which were cut off in this one.
*sigh*
And you can see more of the mermaid too.
Ah well.
These two were based off of two fishies that I have.
My betta, Mad Murphy, is the merman, and my White Cloud Minnow, Pearl, is the basis for the mermaid.

this is tremendous work. it's aboslutely beautiful--from the faces to the detailing in the fins, this is truly spectacular. i wish it didn't have to be spliced, though. is there any way you can photograph it?

It's sad to see so few comments on this. This is a very beautiful pencil drawing. I love the merman very much, wonderful facial expression and detail. I also have to scan my drawing in 2 or 4 pieces, I put them togehther with Photoshop. If my english were a bit better than that I could explain it to you how I do this. This is goint into my favourite-list. :) Happy new year!
